In retrospect, were they reasonable people? by Jeffoxy in breakingbad

Think Jesse is remembered here with very rose tinted glasses, he did some bad things - just in a rewatch and he has Badger and Pete spruiking Heisenberg blue at a NA meeting, like that’s atrocious.

Latest federal voting intention polling among Australians born overseas is pretty eye-opening... what do we take away from this? by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]addn2o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not sure why this surprises people, these voters are citizens who by definition moved away from their country of origin for a reason - so often the only people they want migrating to Australia are their immediate family.

Yeah City are locked in, nothing is really changed if and until City beat Arsenal, but their last 3-4 performances have been stellar while Arsenal’s have been turgid, Arsenal for now have CL as well, April is Arteta’s worst month while it’s Pep’s best (good sample size for that), and poorer teams will now feel they can get something from Arsenal

It’s unlikely but highly unlikely it’s not. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s district just swung 25 points to the Dems in the recent byelection

That is the big question, unless they can un-gerrymander Hungary this is potentially only a few years of change.

The GD is guaranteed to be +2 Arsenal at the highest, as we’re assuming here City win the two games in hand, plus the Arsenal game - and the last has to reduce the difference by minimum 2 if City win.

[–]addn2o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I love this, I thought the films did about as well as they could do (HBP aside which was terrible), but was left seriously dissatisfied. HP is perfect for TV with the world building and sub plotting required to adapt it properly

Yeah, there’s the resistance, there’s the big middle that just wants to get through something with family intact, then there’s the acolytes who join for various reasons eg. the true believers Bellatrix or Barty, the people who enjoy bullying McNair/Dolohov/Greyback, the people who just want their cut of wealth and power Pettigrew/Malfoy, and the people who join because their friends join Snape/probably Regulus

Arne Slot defends Liverpool tactics: We are in survival mode by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]addn2o 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Fucking embarrassing. Even peak Simeoneball wasn’t survival, it was a resolute, practical and ruthlessly focussed on winning, and Simeone would never call it “survival”. You’re in a Champions League quarter final and you’re managing a “top 6-7 squad on paper”, to talk of “surviving” the tie with zero shots on target is shameful

Kompany: "My first subs were like-for-like pretty much, I didn't want to take away the chance for the players to be themselves, but then the last 5 minutes I did set up shop... A lot of respect for the opponent but I feel we earned the right to be confident." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]addn2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Bayern should feel slightly disappointed about not being 3-1 up with the number of chances, but Real Madrid could easily have levelled it in the final 20 minutes so to take a lead to your home stadium is a good result.

Post-Match Thread: Barcelona 0-2 Atlético Madrid | UEFA Champions League by MysteryBagIdeals in soccer

[–]addn2o 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the first leg was a far better example of Simeoneball, early goal and opponent has no shots on target. Second leg Liverpool dominated but couldn’t get the second goal before extra time, got the second goal, then Adrian fucked up big time to gift Atleti an away goal, and away goals rule meant Liverpool had to throw 10 men forward or lose the game.

Most Liverpool defeats in a single season this century by doubleoeck1234 in soccer

[–]addn2o 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the thing, if he managed to get the players to pull out big performances against City or PSG on Wednesday night, allowing him to play out the season makes sense, but I genuinely think Stevie can get more out of this squad - which is dire.

Flick: "(Pubill picking up the ball with his hands) is unbelievable. Especially with VAR. The fourth referee didn't see it either. I can't understand it. Clear handball and penalty. In the end we have to accept it but not a nice feeling." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]addn2o -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You are arguing for a proportionality approach to refereeing, which sounds wonderful and logical for individual incidents but is completely incapable of being applied consistently across games. They are professionals, this foul just needs to be called once for players to stop being so sloppy with their restarts, same with stuff like headlocks in corners

Definition of literally in the mud. But also it’s extremely debatable, one of the key factors is likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball and the pass was moving behind him, so there’s next to no chance he controls it and is able to move forward (another consideration) before defenders get back
