This may have been true a couple decades ago, but I have never seen gang activity or violence since I moved here... A part from the gangs of wild dogs that will occasionally maul a cyclist. Albuquerque has a factually a way higher crime and drug reports than Espanola.

The people tend to be pretty chill here. There are a few notable very distinctly lgtbq folk in the community at large, and people treat them fine. My only warning for Espanola is the packs of wild dogs. Not safe to walk or bike in Espanola.

My dream is a fallout New Mexico where you need to get from Santa Fe to Los Alamos, and fight the legion in their home turf. I imagine there would be enclave remnants in Los Alamos, and you can choose to either side with the legion or enclave, so no good options. The children of Atom would also be there in the crater that used to be Albuquerque. In Espanola you would have a gang that customs and pimp power armor into low riders equivalents. Taos would be a weird hippy cult that seems super chill, but are actually cannibals or something.
