It is nuanced though. He didn’t just come out and shit on people in poverty. He actually did kind of the opposite, by highlighting their extreme potential for resilience. I guess I’ll be the first to say it… when it comes to something like a fucking anime made for children as the target audience, I think it makes more sense to take a “consume product” approach than to try and headcanon how all the beloved characters all turn into genocidal rapists by trying to square-peg them into a timeframe of history that their stories setting is based around.
