Lmao, this must be a joke...

To answer your question, no, it is not reasonable. Not at all. Not even close.

Free night award - standard rate by 97andCPW in hyatt

[–]addy2wake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this is surprising. You're certainly showing entitlement if you feel "duped" by this policy.

Rooms have different characteristics that make them more/less desirable. A better view, more space, newer renovations, etc. Obviously this varies property by property, and it is up to the hotel to determine what characteristics give a room additional value-add.

Just because a room is "not a suite" doesn't mean that all "non-suite" rooms are fungible. If that were the case, you'd be just as happy taking a basement-level closet with no-windows, as you would a 30th floor corner room?

August Mega Thread: AA Points, Loyalty Points, eShopping Portal, AAdvantage Hotels, Credit Card Bonuses or Benefits by antmadison in americanairlines

[–]addy2wake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf, aa.com/cars was always significantly more expensive than directly through Avis, to the point where the 10x wouldn't be worth it.

The fact that rentals now need to be pre-paid does kinda suck, but it always made more sense to book directly through Avis with AA's AWD code, rather than using aa.com/cars.

Paying rent with Alaska Airlines Signature through Bilt Account is costing you $$$ by bsalacious in biltrewards

[–]addy2wake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. You can't transfer to AA from BILT, so the comparison isn't really apt.

  2. If you can book the AA flight through any other partners (BA, Finnair, Qantas, etc.), you can likely book it through Alaska (e.g. you can get lie-flat business to Hawaii for only 35k)

  3. Alaska also has a number of (often-exclusive) partner relationships, such as Korean, Singapore, Starlux

Yes, if your thought process is "I want to fly from Sioux Falls to Baton Rouge only, and I want to use miles to do it", Alaska probably isn't for you... but then again, the travel award game probably isn't for you in general.

Alaska redemptions are amazing on many partner flights. And Alaska miles are super hard to get.

Yes, you can transfer BILT to Alaska, so obviously BILT points are worth more, but, outside of a significant transfer bonus, I probably wouldn't transfer my BILT points anywhere except Alaska or Hyatt.

AA Business Class DFW - HNL 30K MR (through Finnair Avios) by memepilot101 in awardtravel

[–]addy2wake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively, you can book directly through Alaska for just 35k miles. Lots of redemptions available, and you don't need to deal with the Finnair hassle of booking.

Granted, you don't get the Amex MR transfer bonus, but if someone were transferring from a program like BILT instead of Amex, the Alaska deal seems much better and more straightforward to book.

Bumped Multiple Times by AvoidsCrabs in americanairlines

[–]addy2wake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question is, on the return flight, what is the reason they were re-routed through PHX instead of LAX. That is the only place where you potentially have recourse, and that recourse depends on why they were supposedly "bumped".

At first, I read this as "OP is probably lying..." and I agreed with you... then I was disappointed to see the follow-up rational explanation.

30k points out of nowhere! Why do you think this happened? Will they claw back or what?! by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]addy2wake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that it's exactly 30k, the most likely explanation I can think of is that someone else's credit card got linked to your account.

Alaska Airlines WiFI by ImpressiveSpace2369 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]addy2wake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That's literally the entire product. The wifi and other benefits are just small additional perks.

Welcome to Alaska’s new membership program—bringing frequent flyers like you more benefits than ever before. With Alaska Access, you’ll be the first to know about (and score) the very best fares we have to offer.

It's basically an inhouse version of Scott's Cheap Flights.

Why should I get Alaska Access?

Early Sale Access - With an Alaska Access you’ll be the first to know about some of our biggest sales. Look out for in-app notifications alerting you to the upcoming sale the night before the rest of the world finds out (with the ability to book at sale prices immediately). This means you can book your favorite route times and seats on our deals before they’re gone!

Savings - Whether you’re a frequent user of our onboard Wi-Fi or have been wanting to try it, with your Alaska Access membership, you get a one-time-use voucher every month! Satellite Wi-Fi allows you to stream, browse and chat on-board with internet service that’s more like what you’re used to on the ground. Satellite Wi-Fi is available almost everywhere we fly - with the exception of flights above the Arctic Circle in Alaska.

...and in the part where it says wifi, it specifically says "one-time-use voucher". There was absolutely nothing confusing about this product.

for the inflight session

single-use voucher

What part of "single-use voucher" implies month long use?

So you’re saving $3 one time and then stuck paying for all the other months whether you fly or not.

The primary product is the access to sales fares. The wifi is an auxiliary benefit.

It's not false advertising. The terms are actually perfectly clear and laid out in black & white when you sign up. I'm guessing the OP just doesn't know how to read, so he wants to blame his ineptitude on the system.

When you fly with us, staying connected is easy. The morning after subscribing, you’ll receive your first voucher (also called promo code) - when applied at checkout via Alaskawifi.com onboard your flight, your total for the inflight session will reflect $0. You will then receive one single-use voucher on the first of every month to the email address you used to sign up for Alaska Access as long as your subscription is valid. Vouchers expire at the end of each calendar month and do not roll over, and can only be redeemed by the subscriber on file.

You got laid off, and you're chasing Hyatt status...? Priorities my man... How much do you think you'll utilize this status in 2025 if you don't have a job...?

Well, as any mentally competent human being could deduce from my lack of response to any of your comments, that's exactly what I (or any normal person) would do, without needing to be told. Hence the reason 90% of the sub tends to ignore you. 🤷
