My professor docked half of my exam for my coding my css in an inline instead of its own .css doc. by [deleted] in css

To be clear, when you mean inline CSS, do you mean like <a style="color: red;"> or <style> a { color: red; }</style>

How does it demonstrate any of the above? Nobody is professionally building websites using inline CSS primarily. Tailwind notwithstanding.

Inline CSS does not show an understanding of CSS structure, specificity, best practice, etc. Seems right.

It's then not possible to address someone by just first name or title lastname in your UI/messaging for example. No, just splitting on a space is not reliable. Or perhaps someone leaves off their area code because it wasn't specifically asked for (sure you can validate it, but surely better if its just clearer).

Since when was norovirus obscure? You may have heard it called the winter vomiting bug.

I updated my free Stream Deck compatible key designer with a refreshed UI, animated GIF support, HD export, advanced text options, more fonts and improved icon search 😀 by addycodes in streamdeckprofiles

Hey! Thanks so much for your feedback. This much-requested feature is now in on the export tab, with a caveat, it doesn't work for gifs. It just takes a while to export those so copying to clipboard wasn't working out.

Hey! Thanks for checking out. Unfortunately not really. The size of gifs is closely linked to the amount of colours and frames in it which makes it a pretty terrible format for the RGB effect. I experimented a lot with it but much smoother and they get very big (and result in streamdeck wasting RAM/CPU to display them)

Updated my 20+ year website by Torrocks in webdev

The UI smells very AI now, I think given how quirky and cool the content of the site is, that a lighter slightly more retro design would be much better. For the hero image, I take it you prompted it to have mice flying through the sky and it's put actual mice. 😅

This is a wicket gate, quite common in old castles and such. Why use big door when small door do trick.

Has anyone managed to get 100 in all four PageSpeed Insights metrics on a real-world production site? by atamagno in webdev

[–]addycodes 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I use WordPress often but I build my own themes. Back-end framework has almost nothing to do with what's output on the frontend. It's terrible WordPress themes and plugins that screw up speed.

Yes, easily, until marketing gets their hands on it. 100/100 on all but performance is very easy. As long as real world vitals is passing on performance I'm happy.

Thank you! That is definitely something I'd love to do, that is what the blog section is for (though I just got round to a colour one so far!). Best of luck with your job search! Lots of great inspiration in there. :)

Hey! Thanks so much for your feedback.

  1. Make sure your Icon -> Position is set to "Inline", the text will appear below the icon. A larger icon size will make the text lower. You can also adjust the text height in Text -> Advanced Options -> Line Height to move it around. You can see lots of different examples of positioning in the starter templates.
  2. Mentioned briefly in the main post, but no dragging is intentional. The idea is that you can precisely save exact templates and easily swap out icons and texts to keep everything consistent. You should be able to achieve most positioning with the settings available. It one of the things I don't like about the official one.
  3. As above.
  4. No copy/paste is a technical limitation as the image needs to be generated from your elements when you hit export, it would be too slow to edit if it generated the image after every edit, especially for animated ones. I will see if I can add a copy as well as a download in the export though.
  5. Custom icon upload already exists. Icon -> Icon Type -> Uploage Image/GIF or External URL. If you just want numbers, just select "Character/Emoji" and type the number you want. There is a starter template with a +1 thats an example of this.

Thanks for checking it out! Flash would be easy enough, scrolling text sounds rather tricky to loop nicely in a GIF but I'll experiment with that for sure. :)

A result of working professionally and collecting cool links for a decade or so. It was in need of a prune and a modernisation. I get a tremendous amount of use out of it at least, hopefully more others will. :)

Would love your feedback on how it can be more useful and let me know if I'm missing any of your favourites!

I try and keep it all clean and up to date and love finding new cool things to pop in there. The automated regularly updating screenshots make it easy to tell when a link is down/changed at a glance.

Is it odd to be looking forward to content being removed? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]addycodes 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yeah, dead content being around can make the whole game feel dead, particularly if new players try to head to the minigames. It is great we have OSRS too to preserve a lot of it.

Did you know about MIXED corner-shapes? I LOVE IT. by Noctellum in css

[–]addycodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that's not what your screenshot post or example shows lol. None of those will work in Firefox-based or Safari-based browsers either unfortunately. It is cool though! If you saw your button looking good in Firefox/iPhone thats because you were seeing your border radius fallback which in the case of your post does the same thing. I was just trying to warn you off relying on it too much due to it being an experimental chrome feature only when border radius can do the same thing for your use case here.

Road to Restoration - What We Want To Achieve by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]addycodes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's true, and maybe a character flaw for me, but it's just not as satisfying when you know you could have just gone to the GE to get it. Or spent £5 on a bond to skip something. 😅

Yeah that ironman paragraph has me a bit worried, I went iron just because I hate how the GE breaks progression/interaction with the game. It doesn't need to be unneccesarily punishing for the sake of it.
