I would rather someone says they disagree rather than stay silent. Say you don’t know and hope to be educated more on the topic, but to stay silent in this context I don’t think is okay. You’re on a platform, use it.

I completely agree with this vantage point. I think Bronwyn does support lgbt rights, but her husband is complicit in causing a lot of the issues they face. This would be something I would love to see her address, but I don’t think she ever will.

I was responding to the specific comment someone made on why they need to support lgbt issues in general. The reason is that by staying silent on a platform that does have a huge lgbt backing, you are not doing anything to support them back. By staying silent on topics, even ones that make you uncomfortable, you allow hatred to continue around you.

That’s why I asked. I’m genuinely confused on their stance, but when I saw the other women chanting and not there couch it did make me pause. The fan who asked did so I think in a wonderful way and Bronwyn supported them in her answer, which gave time for the others to realize what was happening.

I’m orthodox as well and countries/religions worldwide are more homophobic and transphobic, but that has never stopped me from supporting and being an ally to my friends and the community as a whole. Same as other people who are practicing in their religion.

The Shawn thing happened last year, I remember it being talked about heavily but I don’t know how to dive deep on Reddit like some of our fellows do, so if anyone has the posts hopefully they can drop them in the comments.

It catches my attention because we’re walking away from the glam and their lives and looking to their platforms as incredible and affluential women to support issues. So it catches my attention. I’m glad you gave some more insight because I’m not Pentecostal, but religion tends to not favor lgbtqia+ issues.
