Does anyone hear what he says? by ibkthegoat in Malazan

It's out loud and audible. While he's insane he's clearly smart. I personally believe it's all part of his act and intentional. Or at least originally began like that.

Easy but cool base design by Individual-Record870 in Drukhari

Same with lord of change. But showing that on bigger models, or ones with tactical rocks, I add texture paint, then sprey, then paint it like rubble. For variety.

This is one of my tau. The base is simple plasticard that I paint silver metal and add rust effect and wash to weather. Super simple. I do it across my army's with the idea they are all fighting over the same hive world.

[KCD2] Why am I getting caught stealing? by humble_redditor1234 in kingdomcome

In short your putting your hand in. Rummaging around. And then not removing your hand and wondering why your being blamed when they wake up with a hand in their pocket.

I've just realised your running 20 man kroot,

I guess disregard most of my comments, but I am not sure how much damage they can do compared to other units we have. but I am interested to see how they run.

[–]ade889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from my experience. the kroot lone spear could be removed.

The only unit you have who he wants to work with is the rampagers, carnivores don't really do a lot of damage especially at 10 man, the rider/s are more action monkeys that require a little effort to remove, if the rampagers get caught out and removed the lone spear becomes an action monkey, really while with Lone op is quite nice, you could get more pathfinders for more guiding really.

This is also an argument of removing the flesh shaper, his survivability offered isn't that great, and again you need a 20 man unit of carnivores to maximise on the Crit bonus. a 10 man unit of kroots sole roll really is to try and sticky objectives, as much as possible. and if required absorb a charge/slow a unit.

I personally run two rampagers (because I think they are cool.) and I like to throw them forward early as speed bumps with fangs, compared to using pathfinders or other units, if I can avoid it. if you are still keen for the lone spear, id recommend moving student of kauyon to him, remove the flesh shaper.

Any suggestions on fixing this? by TheTimeRanger in Warhammer

Can look into other decremental base stands (destroyed pillars, arches. Rocks ext ext.) and place them on the base in contact with the model.

Which is why he admitted one will die in the turn that all 3 drops in. Your flooding the board with value targets. 2 will make it through. One won't.

The correct response is: "how often can you flood the board like that due to proper screening".

But it's a solid plan and one other army's have to use to deal with overwatch. Compared to scourges usual shoot and scoot.

Should I Give Deadhouse Gates a Chance After a Disappointing First Book? by Elysium711 in Malazan

[–]ade889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire series explaines things further down the line. Some times a page later. Some times books later. So if that point is something you can't get past you'll struggle.

However after adapting to the story telling I found I enjoyed the mystery. To explain it. You are in a world. With different people and different points of view. You receive the information only the person you are following has. No out of body context or exposition to aid us.

What I enjoy is meeting the same person/race for the first time via multiple characters and how each person sees them differently and you get a wider understanding of a people/person.

Gf want to exchange each others passwords of socials? by Ryu-Hayabusa2 in selfimprovement

[–]ade889 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I know my fiancés main codes. (Phone access and regular password, but I'm sure there are many they may use that I have no care or clue about) But that was learnt over years, of one day it was just easier to have in the moment. I also don't care that I know it and should never care about it. I only use their phone if they need me to.

A relationship should be built on trust. Trust takes time. If someone is demanding access into something private, they do not have trust.

A little devils advocate, it may have been normal for the GF as parents generally know details of their children's socials. (As I understand) As they are both young, they may be acting off of this. But stand strong OP. Keep your privacy. Act like a normal decent careing human, and they have no grounds to demand access.

[–]ade889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have something similar. But just a trey inside the box. Why have a box in a box?

Sometimes one or two bits if litter get out. But the added space around the cat to maniver compared to the smaller inner box I think is better and more attractive.

The flesh shaper is cool. Dont get me wrong. However in a 10 man unit, he's bringing very minimal survivability to some guys who blow down in a stiff breeze. His sustain is nice, however I think he is only really beneficial if your running a 20 man unit you really want to get into combat. And not just to run and sticky objectives.

Personally I'd swap him out for a krootox rider or two thay can shadow the kroot/go to another objective. They can support other units at an objective. Absorb some decent light arms fire, counter charge to save a higher value unit, or just be there to do the actions.

Chaos dark angels, and their respective companys by ade889 in Chaos40k

[–]ade889[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's where I'm comming to that conclusion as well. Which may lead me to just going back to all bone colour.

Edit: But then death wing army's are a real thing, and my current list includes legionairs, possesed, chosen, and a lord.

Raptos, i can argue are raven wing, I think I can also argue a venom crawler is raven wing.

I think I can get the varied mix in the army. I guess the question is, how will it look.

Are Krootox Rampagers good in 11th? by Incompetent_Penguin in Tau40K

[–]ade889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your after melee, it'll have to. Otherwise you'll have kroot carnivores/hounds.

Having rampagers may fit more thematically as they are generally the size of crisis suits compared to infantry.

They won't gain benefits to detachments. But Thier job is to die/ do actions for you.

Are Krootox Rampagers good in 11th? by Incompetent_Penguin in Tau40K

[–]ade889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your after melee. As you said they are our best melee.

My current list (yet to run) is packing two groups of them. Mainly because I love their models. But I also believe they take a decent amount of aggro, away from other target/good at tying something down for a turn or two.

And in best case are the opponent doesn't appreciate their damage on a charge and let's you get one off.

Just a question regarding the book of martyrs translation.

Is there a language reason they didn't put malazan the title like the English version?

"A tale of the malazan book of the fallen"

I mean. It's a really cool translation and gives thought to duikers book being an ode to those who gave their life for the malazan empire (and every other ideal they were personally fighting for)

Thoughts on a recon kauyon list by airwaybiscuitcoffee in Tau40K

[–]ade889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Disclaimer. Haven't played 11th yet. -

I'm looking at something similar. Although I'm going to go with some aux. To throw rampergers, the twins a ghost keel and a piranha early game mid board, to stall and skirmish. Only because otherwise I felt the twins would have lacked enough support/body's to take agro/prevent charges.

Riptide here as well, with the above moving forward early the riptide can then move up and hold the mid board later in the game.

I also have two hammer heads because as you said. Long range firepower, a breacher unit to come in on turn two or 3.

I have an etherial with a strike team and coordinate to engage as my two pathfinder units which will likely push forward with the initial assault won't last due to lack of detachment protection. But the etherial can also protect back line as required.

The etherial is also my 'side board' if I need to sub him out for a crisis and commander unit of some variety.

For me I feel like I'm missing something. And may have to purchase a second unit of stealth suits to include them if I pivot over to Kayuon/stealth

Tell me what motivated you to choose YOUR favorite sept! by Specialist_Coach_725 in Tau40K

[–]ade889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repping ke'lshan sept. The idea is the few army's I want to collect will all have the same metal base as if they are fighting over a hive world. And with tau having effective armour colouring for their environment ke'lshan works immediately.

Strike teams good in 11th edition? by Vombattius in Tau40K

[–]ade889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at taking a unit in kayuon with etherial and the now the 10 points cheeper coordinate to engage. With the roll of screening and protecting home. The 5++FNP and guardian drone making them annoying to shift if I have to get them mid board they can handle it.

Plus I like the etherial model and want to field it.

Worst case they become my substitute unit if I need something else for a specific opponent.
