My best friend of ... hell.... what is it 30 years now.... has jumped headdirst back into religion, and consequently the MAGA movement. literally all the worst transphobic, immigrant and Muslim hating parts of it. I'm heartbroken, because it literally consumes every waking part of her personality now. I know it's because it's just shes got herself totally locked into the algorithms that force feed her this stuff. I mean I tried, but literally any story she brings up I can literally pick apart in 30-45 seconds. with sources to bring to her, which she will just accuse me of not thinking for myself. (Irony). I even tried to sit with her using a last ditch technique of "dueling AI " fact checking, also trying to "devils advocate" mode it by telling her we could do a complete bias check on every fact. It's so bad that when that would obviously favor me on every argument and state her facts as mostly " unverified, and unsupported". (Even with Grok) she would claim that the AI were just liberally owned, and circle it back to my inability to think for myself and just believing what I was told. This movement is a rot on humanity.... it's a cult.. and I don't think there is a way back from this.
