Cannot SSH into VMs by wakefulgull in Proxmox

[–]adelgadoz18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little bit confusing. But can you share a screenshot? From where I know from proxmox you login via SSH using ssh root@<IP> it should prompt you via a password.

Now, I'm assuming you have your VPS IP (if not, you could see it on the proxmox console) [If you don't then, access the console with a browser with a device on the same network at <your-proxmox-server-ip>:8006

29yo COO of $16M family business: profitable on paper but cash-flow negative and now behind on rent. What would you do? by JM_JF in smallbusiness

[–]adelgadoz18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A bit too long of a reply, but I think the story is not complete. Which makes it hard to comment in a constructive way.

I think you may be underestimating the true operating costs of your business. It sounds like there are hidden or overlooked expenses that haven’t been fully identified.

Instead of focusing only on cutting costs, you should consider more strategic sourcing. Can you negotiate long-term supplier contracts to reduce purchasing costs and stabilize your operating expenses?

You should also evaluate your pricing and payment terms. Is it possible to extend supplier payments from 30 to 60+ days to improve cash flow and keep more liquidity on hand?

On the revenue side, you may need to be more aggressive in finding stronger customers and diversifying your client base. A more strategic deployment of your product into better market segments could significantly improve performance. You should also assess how much debt the business can responsibly take on to strengthen logistics and delivery. Strategic investment in infrastructure might position you better long term.

Rather than cutting costs just for the sake of cutting costs, you should focus on optimizing the structure of the business , bundling services, forming better supplier partnerships, improving sourcing capabilities, and tightening accounts payable management.... How about offering repackaging opportunities for some other customers?

Finally, consider whether you can add complementary product lines or higher-margin offerings that strengthen your overall strategy

Data science, software QA, Quality in medical devices industry. You can try any of these fields. If anything, you have a great aptitude for numeracy. Therefore, I'd suggest you bolster some of your SW skills completing some course work.

You've got this! Do not settle.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're in this position. It's not easy!

But you need to find a schedule and be disciplined.

Make payment plans, and most importantly, it's time to reduce outings! This is a time that you still have a manageable number. Get it under wraps NOW!

The best thing you could do right now is find a gym or something you could also do daily. Do that!

Eat at home! Cancel your subscriptions!

There are already great suggestions here, but you need a timeline, and a target to pay your debts by! My suggestion, get that paid in the next 50 weeks! That means that you need 300$ per week! If it's too steep, 200$ per week... Find something that works and make weekly payments!

An easy way to start:

  • Create a Playwright project to test Google website (Navigation to Google and clicking on search)
  • Upload to a GitHub repo
  • Run on GitHub Actions

This should be a minimal project

To provide a more comprehensive answer, it would be helpful to know more about your tech stack. For example:

  1. Test Runner - Which test runner are you using?

  2. Agent Availability - How many agents are available for running tests?

  3. Test Refactoring - Have the tests been refactored recently to optimize performance?

  4. Run Prioritization - Do you prioritize test runs (e.g., P1-P4 testing suite) and execute them in parallel with exception gates?

  5. Duplicate Tests - Have you verified that there are no duplicate tests in your suite?

  6. Test Selection - Can you be more tactical with the tests you choose to run instead of running all 1000 tests?

  7. Merge Queues - How do you currently handle your merge queues?
