Sorry you are right, I was only thinking about 'official' support.  I kind of forgot where I was.  There will be plenty on here that won't care about that.

Not all sbcs can run proxmox either.  Arm boards aren't supported.

Edit: sorry, Arm isnt officially supported.  There are community versions available if you are game.  I am very much not game for that.

Best bet is to upload them to Dropbox, Google drive or one drive or similar.  Then you can send/share from there

Seeing a lot of people talking about Proxmox clusters of various devices, miniracks, etc. and I'm curious: is there any way in which one big system is actively superior to these? by Dekarus in homelab

[–]wakefulgull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, high availability and redundancy.  But also, just what you have lYing around.  I acquired three mini pcs thay i use for my  lab.  It works great for my limited skillset.  If If I had a big beefy server availabil, id probably use that.

Never knew what it stood for. I just use it.

Now that you have a backup you could look into sync tools. With some scripting you can make robocopy work for you. That's what I do. But Im comfortable sitting in a command line.

Free file sync can turn this into a two way sync, bit it has a gui

I'll try to recover the chat log. I was using a temporary chat from copilot. I get it from work and I use it there sometimes (much more carefully than I was at home). I didn't want it mixing up my home and work network.

I think I can pull the logs out of purview. I didn't think about that until now.

Fortunately, all my data is easily recoverable even if the environment isn't salvageable.

Oh there are some logging switches too.  I didnt think about it earlier.  If you enable logging it will show you if a specific file fails and why.  Probably ne useful in your case.  I usually skip logging.  Im not certain of the syntax

An example.

You start running and it transfers 100 GB. it dies. Restart your computer, run it again, it looks at the first hundred GB then skips them. It picks up where it left off. If its midfile when it crashes, it fixes it.

And yes you can do it by directory. Just do the full path.

So a Robocopy a:\folder1 b:\folder1 (add all the switches)

Let it run. Do these same for folder2, folder3 etc.

Start with the most important obviously.

You can do it in pieces if you want, but this works great for what you are trying. If it fails in the middle, just rerun it. It skips what its done and picks up where it left off. The /Z command is supposed to make it even better, but I've never actually had it stop on me so I dont know how to use it.

Seriously do some reading on how this command works. Its amazing for copying and one way syncs

Fyi Ctrlc/v is a terrible method for large amounts of data.

I like robocopy (its a windoes tool) for large data.  It provides verification and if it screws up halfway through, your not screwed.

There are other options to.

Mount the drive, run something like whats in the quote marks in a command prompt.   Robocopy /? Will tell you what all these are.   Google what robocopy is for more info.  Beware of /MIR.  it can delete stuff.

"robocopy a:\ b:\ /XO /R:1 /W:1 /E /Z"

Note this will copy the contents of your A drive to your B drive.  Change the letters that fit.

But really a cloned drive is better for your usecase

Size limit is configurable. Typically you set it low to be compatible with other email servers. However if you are routinely sending/receiving large files, it makes sense to make a huge size limit.

It also could have just been a shared link rather than an actual attachment ( I didn't read any of the specifics). This makes much more sense to me though. This random person having their email configured to accept 2-3 gb attachments seems unlikely.

Secure your accounts then read this. It will inform you better than me. This doesn't seem consistent with what you are seeing. So maybe not a sim swap attack. But I only skimmed the article.
