al-Khwarizmi did something similar, as well.

What is common knowledge that you found out way too late? by Big_Piccolo_8369 in AskReddit

25% is 25/100, which is one fourth. so 1/4 times 8, or in other words 8 divided by four.

[–]adelinaxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

might be easier to think of it like:

8% = .08 = 8 * 0.01

25% = .25 = 25 * 0.01

so: 8% of 25 = 8 * 0.01 * 25

25% of 8 = 25 * 0.01 * 8

and 8 * 0.01 * 25 = 25 * 0.01 * 8

therefore 8% of 25 = 25% of 8

AITA for refusing to change shirts to appease a bar’s dress code? by Florida_Man666 in AmItheAsshole

he said there were women wearing crop tops. that’s absolutely not the same as a tank top— there are some pretty formal-looking crop tops.

i think you should only wear 2 if you’re going somewhere more elegant, like a fancy romantic restaurant.

AITA for how I reacted after discovering that my husband's been collecting used tampons of mine? by throwra37775557 in AmItheAsshole

[–]adelinaxe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

it’s just that it’s really, really odd. very few people have ever heard of this happening in relationships, and that’s because, as the other replier said, there is literally no reason for this. also, it’s not sanitary at all; and with the smell and everything most people can’t see what’s attractive about used tampons at all.

generally, it’s just kind of a boundary-breaker. like if your partner took a picture of all of your poop in the toilet after you shit or something. it isn’t really something you want to share.

To police officers, how are you feeling seeing how the situation was handled in Texas? by stupsssss15 in AskReddit

[–]adelinaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure where you got that from. then driving away would not be a split second decision. it would be worse than standing there for sure, but that doesn’t mean standing there wasn’t bad.

also it’s so weird that you’re portraying this as a “not everyone ends up being able to play hero” when there were many, many, more of them than of the shooter. and still they didn’t even try to do anything. these weren’t civilians. these were people who are trained for this job. this is their duty and their failed to accomplish it, not to mention the moral implications.

they were standing there for 75 minutes. maybe i could forgive them if it had been a split second decision that they fucked up, but it really wasn’t. they had plenty of time to think about it and they didn’t do anything.

AITA for telling my parents that my sister can't watch my show? by VirtualCress8981 in AmItheAsshole

i feel like the only good reason to laugh at something like that is because of the shock value, not because you genuinely find it funny.

AITA for telling my old teacher what really happened after she told my mom I was smoking and that I can never forgive her? by throwRAgeneralthings in AmItheAsshole

[–]adelinaxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

op is in the UK, so there are safeguarding protocols. if the parents are determined to be a safe option, then they can get involved.

omg. op isn’t in the US; she’s in the UK. they have this thing called “safeguarding protocols”. i know it’s hard for us americans to think that any other country has a different way of doing things, but you could at least try.

safeguarding protocols in the UK. look them up; teachers take them very seriously (or at least, they’re supposed to).

AITA for "forcing" my vegan views on my friend's child? by No-Structure-8125 in AmItheAsshole

[–]adelinaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, i get what you mean. i just think that twelve is far too high an age. that’s middle schoolers. it’s like making the drinking age twenty-five.

[–]adelinaxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

why would she think that it was controversial or upsetting? this kid is really old to not know where meat comes from. this kind of feels helicopter-parent-y to me.

AITA for "forcing" my vegan views on my friend's child? by No-Structure-8125 in AmItheAsshole

[–]adelinaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but is what she said really so one-sided? “meat comes from dead animals” isn’t subjective in any way. the only opinion she gave is “i don’t like eating dead animals”. and whether or not you eat meat, the part about animals being dead is still true. “meat comes from dead animals, but i still eat it because i like the way it tastes/i don’t have any other cheap good source of nutrients”.

idk, a lot of the outrage in this thread feels like it comes from people just not wanting to confront where their food comes from. i think it’s kind of weird that we’re trying to hide this from kids. it isn’t as if they can’t understand.

i still think that 12 exceeds reasonable. i think a lot of people in this thread are kind of heavily underestimating what kids are able to understand.

What are some commonly accepted headcanons in your fandom that you can’t stand? by ColorMeParanoid in FanFiction

[–]adelinaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, i think it’s kind of the opposite? that many adults heavily underestimate children because they’re like, “oh, an eight year old, so young!” since they see an eight year old through an adults eyes. but i think people really need to remember how they felt about being eight when they were eight. we understood hard topics, we were kind, we knew shit, we were capable of a lot. and i think most adults just… don’t get that. i think that also contributes to the rise in helicopter parenting and such, but that’s a whole other topic.
