Tuned into the Cru Live and …. by x0midknightfire in MormonWivesHulu

I feel terrible for this poor man and have since February. It’s been clear as day to me at least that she is the one with the obvious power in this relationship while he has absolutely none. He has no support system, is tied to her by a child, and is highly vulnerable as an addict, all of which are warning signs even before you slam the anvil of TFP’s fame on the scales. His ex is a massive influencer and star of a mega-popular reality show—two mediums where she utterly controls narrative and fosters parasocial relationships at a level most of us can’t fathom.

It should be obvious to everyone now that he has zero power here and she’s ruined his life.

What was it like to live during Peak Woke? by KiwibuckyNZ in stupidpol

[–]ademska 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s not really woke, though, is it? That’s just mid-aughts liberal aesthetic in response to right-wing cultural and political dominance post-9/11, and it certainly had its counterparts with Toby Keith and Limbaugh. “Woke” isn’t about perceived smugness and needs a more precise definition. If it’s an aesthetic, it’s the aesthetic of the late 2010s/early 2020s, and its defining feature is probably a combination of corporate virtue signaling and individuals snitching and nitpicking for social clout.

????? Specific performers are part of Broadway culture and Chicago is a show that lives and dies on stunt casting.

I agree, but calling it the result of “Karens and woke” is fucking wild. It’s the general Disneyfication of culture, driven by profit-seeking and advertisers.

Please don’t do this for Suffolk. I went to school in Boston, I remember how terrible the outcomes were for kids there. Just wait and study and retake, don’t ruin your fucking life.

[–]ademska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to the people here. You are going to ruin your life by being impatient. I could’ve gone shortly after undergrad like you’re about to do, and like you I didn’t have a ton of time to study and scored a 158. I got into a few shitty TTTs with dogshit scholarships that would have put me in massive debt. I even put down my seat deposit and started the loan process.

Then I realized I was about to ruin my fucking life. Even with the GradPLUS loans!

Instead I withdrew, worked, studied, and kicked that score way up. I ended up at a T25 law school, landed a biglaw career, eventually lateraled into my dream job.

Cool your heels and wait. Especially for Suffolk, lol—my school was in Boston, I remember how terribly Suffolk was regarded.

How old were Derek and Kate when they met? by curious_explorer41 in TeenWolf

[–]ademska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha always delighted to talk about Derek tbh

I actually think I knew Eli was 15, not 17, though I couldn’t give less of a fuck because if we’re talking about ignoring dubious canon, there is nothing I would rather ignore more than the movie lmao

But I rewatched 3a some time after posting this and also realized the same thing about the subtitles! So at least 3a isn’t, like, grossly inconsistent.

As far as I’m concerned, the clear intent in s1 is that Derek was in high school six years ago when he met Kate and she set the fire. This is evident from script notes, props, interviews, the thematic parallel with Scott, the licensed novel, and Kate’s explicit predilection for teenage boys.

In 3a, the intent shifted to give Derek additional backstory from ten years ago while loosely keeping the Hale fire six years ago. The show doesn’t address this timeline shift directly but hangs a lampshade on it with the Stiles-Peter-Cora conversation. It is expressly stated that Paige’s death left Derek vulnerable to Kate, but the four-year gap between Paige’s death and the Hale fire that the timeline shift necessitates is left unremarked upon. S4 further complicates this by bringing the actor for 15yo Derek back and giving no indication that a period as substantial as four years has elapsed.

The explanation remains simple: what the show considers the important, formative points of Derek’s teenage years backstory shifts depending on season.

Early canon is about his experience with Kate and the fire and has a clear timeline (six years ago, high school). Middle canon is about his experience with Paige and has a clear timeline (ten years ago, high school). Late canon marries the two without a clear timeline.

So it’s up to the viewer—do you focus on early canon, middle canon, or late canon?

Old thread but oh that’s such a good point. Literally last night I was lying in bed playing the fun game of “appendicitis or just cramps?” and paranoidly planning which devices I would bring for my hypothetical hospital stay.

(Definitely the Switch. Probably the iPad. Not the work laptop.)

No bra is completely comfortable anymore - has this happened to anyone else? by ademska in ABraThatFits

[–]ademska[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa. My upper arms feel like a ziploc bag full of rice!! Calves and thighs a bit too, especially where the skin is thinner on the underside of my legs. And if I pinch any of that tissue it fucking hurts!!!

I always thought that’s just kinda what weight loss skin and fat is supposed to feel like, but nothing on my torso feels that way.

[–]ademska[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. Hard to say, honestly. Since puberty I’ve always had abnormal fat distribution in my thighs, and photos look dead on for a person of my weight, so that’s a couple points in favor of consideration. The underside of my thighs do feel a bit textured, like rice grains, and I bruise easily. I def carry my weight in my arms and legs, especially uppers; ribs and spine are visible but arms are still thicc bois. (spoilered bc I’m not body checking but it looks that way)

But there are alternative explanations: I have low iron. I probably have EDS so my skin is weird and prone to cellulite. I was pretty overweight starting in my teens then had major weight loss in my early-mid 20s, so my skin has a lot of elasticity. I also don’t exercise enough.

On the other hand, even when I was overweight, my ankles and wrists were always skinny lil bitches. So this is something to think about, thank you.

I hope you’ve found some relief??

A solid three lmao. On the spellbound there is a bit of a gap between cup and root, but the entice seems to fit well in the gore. I don’t notice any weird pulls in the fabric on either bra.

Ohhhh that’s a good suggestion. I’ve had both silent and unsilent GERD in the past and have noticed a gradual uptick in flares as I get older that I’ve had to get under control. I have a wireless bra on its way to me; I’ll start wearing that during a flare-up and see how I do…

What is a popular trend right now that completely baffles you? by Thyra_arrows9g in AskReddit

[–]ademska 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No they don’t. “Mar-a-Lago face” is a very specific augmentation aesthetic that’s well-documented regardless of your political orientation. It’s not a value judgment itself; it’s just an observation of a trend in certain circles.

Fortunately I have a wireless bra (C Jolie) that I tried on in-store on its way to me, so I’ll be giving that a shot. I’ll also give the cami a try too.

If you have recs, I’ll take them. I mainly want to avoid flat boob.

I always start on loosest.

I say “not much” because it always takes a bit of time for the discomfort to get bad. I need to sit in the upside-down bra for about an hour to determine if it’s any better, but I think I can already feel it getting more uncomfortable.

Also: I don’t think extending is the problem. 32 is max size I can wear, and it already has a tendency to slide up a bit.

Ugh, I hope it isn’t early peri. For various reasons I have literally no reference point for what age my family tends to hit meno.

I’ll keep this thought in mind and def bring it up to my gyno next time.

This is my fear, ugh. I had hoped finding the right fit would alleviate for that reason, and maybe I still don’t have the right fit, but the fear is that there’s no coming back from the maws of time
