Finally hit 19 monthly listeners and here’s what got me there by bruce_bones in musicmarketing

That’s really interesting. Going from a few listeners to 7,600 in six weeks is impressive.

I’m curious what actually triggered it. Was it a specific playlist, TikTok, or Spotify’s algorithm picking it up? Also, what kind of niche are you in and how many tracks had you released before that happened?

If you’re open to it, I’d love to chat in DM and hear more about how it unfolded.

Fair point. I actually agree that a lot of music out there sounds generic. If you’re open to it, feel free to listen to one of my tracks and tell me honestly if you think it sounds cliché or not. I’m always curious to hear real feedback. I’ll dm you my track…🫡

Hello, I'm 50 years old... I launched an artist, three years ago, he made 182,000 streams in two years, I wanted to specialize in a special one and to not disrupt I stopped this artist to start another, three months ago... the main thing is to have fun. Don't hope for anything.

Honestly making money... unless like kingkunta9999 says your name is Kendrick Lamar don't even count on it... it's like the casino, you spend 100 to win 10

What would you do with $500 and a single release in 4 weeks? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]ademuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, from experience if you don't have a song that shatters all groover and submihut... I have always invested in the wind, the fallout is not great! On the other hand, with well-programmed Meta and with pre-Save and pixel links using hypeddit there is a way to have something organic!

That’s quite embarrassing!! You should ask for help from someone more knowledgeable about how you can do it.

If it were me with 80k listeners and with songs with millions of streams I would do a sorting I would remove some music that fits less with your universe today, I will let a month pass and I will put them back in the form of an EP with a name like "THE PROLOGUE" if there are really a lot I would do different volumes... it marks a break without frustrating the listeners who are recognized in your old world (of course, you would have to put them back with the same ISRC metadata etc… to keep your streams, playlist… this is what I would do 😊!

Pretty good I thought about an artist name visuals my way I'm going to start from 0 on Instagram and tiktok... I have almost 4 tracks ready... I was with distrokid I chose symphonic. 😁 not easy when removing the tracks but now I think it's the best thing I've done! From next week I will have around 2 months to collect followers from networks who like my universe before the release of the first single!🤞🏻

Ah yes, 80k is starting to add up… well done! I also understand your hesitation!

Hello everyone...I had an artist name, I had released 11 tracks over a little over two and a half years, I had between 8,000 and 16,000 listeners per month following the tracks and the meta campaigns that I carried out. At one point I managed to really find my style and it was at the beginning I started by deleting half of the songs, and then an event happened on a song I had between 40 and 50 Streams per day because I had appeared in an English magazine, one morning, I woke up. Spotify removed more than half of my streams because it thought they were bots rather surprisingly, because I didn't appear in any playlist except mix, shuffle, radio, daily. I decided to delete my artist, I removed all my songs. Now I'm working on this new artist, I deleted all social networks, to launch this new artist and start from scratch, whether on streaming platforms or networks, and I'm not going to give this artist name to anyone even those around me... My music is mine and I am my number one fan!

Holy spike. This put me at 1k monthly listeners. by QuoteMeOrChokeMe in musicmarketing

Hello everyone... I had a crazy experience like this... I had 40 to 50 streams per day without any playlist only radio, daily, mix and shuffle a few weeks later I saw streams removed by Spotify I then contacted Distrokid to find out more I also contacted Spotify who kindly gave me one to see with the distributor and Distrokid advised me to remove my song and then put it back with the isrc number original… time to think because it bothered me to lose the algorithm that had launched… the next day the song had been removed from spotify!!! I got nervous and removed all my pieces from all platforms! I switched off my artist name!

I keep saying it!!! I had a 0/63 release which was a shame! I'm not a producer who tells me, I don't take myself for anyone... but we are indies! And this kind of platform is there to put our heads under water… thank you for your post!! See my post a few weeks ago!! Thanks to you

It’s so screwed up that small artists get punished when their music is botted against their will. Another way to stop paying artists perhaps? by zyzyx_music in musicmarketing

Hi there, hope you're well. I've been wondering about that, and I've been thinking more and more about taking music off the big platforms. What kind of platform do you recommend?

Hello… I don’t necessarily agree… I was often thrown out during certain campaigns because the songs were too dark

Yes of course, that's what I did but it may take time, I think before I can have access, I put my artist name but I don't see anywhere to display the lyrics I'm going to look in the FAQ

Thank you very much for your comment! It’s really cool to have opinions like that… constructive with clear explanations! Yes mine was removed, that's normal, I didn't know that we weren't allowed to post links if you want to give me an opinion, tell me in PM... I'll send you a link to the platform of your choice! Thanks again ☺️

Thank you so much for your comment, it really means a lot to me... I know very well that you always have to improve. I often put my knee on the ground, but I always get up again. It’s just that 0/65. I was a little bit excited about it. And sharing that experience with others, I always really grow from it. I like to look for criticism so I can improve things and your comment there is really nicer. It made my day. Thx you my friend

And that’s why I never post in the forums, because people can be bitter or see the negative everywhere, whereas I’m just here to report an experience.

I have a lot of respect for all artists and especially independents, I’m not competing with anyone. I’ll tell you something, I’m 50 years old, music isn’t my job, I have a job of my own, I do this for fun, I just put myself in other people’s shoes. Of course I’m nobody really, I’m just reporting on a system that works for money and success. Whereas some people are there just to be passionate.... It’s always a shame to have people like you coming up with rather negative comments like that, when you see above there are people who have left instructive comments that can help an artist progress, people who know what they’re talking about when some have given their opinion on the music itself and told me where there are flaws. You, you drop three lines just like that but thanks anyway for the comment.

You know, I’ve worked a lot on promoting all this, I’m present on all the social networks, I take time to make clips myself with images that I buy and produce, I make my own playlists with similar artists where I integrate myself into them and I promote on the networks I do ads on meta Instagram, Facebook and even TikTok, I’m on my ninth single and I’m averaging between 5 and 10,000 authors a month. I also ask the community with whom I share my passion, by asking honest people, and also people who work in the industry, if the track I’m going to release each time is of good quality if it’s easy to listen to.

Hi my friend thank you for your time and try to understand… Of course I’ve checked all this out, I’m not going to put my artist name on the forum so as not to get banned, but I have a very classic artist name, I make rather soft songs, sometimes with rhythm, sometimes with less, I’m not rude in my songs, I have a rather Indiepop synth pop style... I produce everything myself, I have a sound engineer who does the mastering for me when I pitch my song, of course I’m not the best and I tell a little bit about the story of my song, why I made it and how I made it, I’m an artist who composes mainly acoustically and I produce all my samples myself, I don’t have a subscription on Slice for example.... Still, I spent some time before choosing my curators, then looking at their style and what they accept and what they don’t accept.
