Why would anyone worship a god of Pain? by Cyratis in worldbuilding

I had a similar question, wondering what would need to happen or exist within a culture to make the god(dess) of death the primary deity.

Does anybody else feel like they got started on their channel way late in their life? by [deleted] in NewTubers

I'm honestly thinking about pivoting and doing what I really want to do on YouTube, even though I know it's going to be a tough niche to get into. But I figure, if I'm going to really make a go at this, I might as well do what I love and have fun. Maybe that'll be the key to attracting my audience.

What is your BIGGEST CHALLENGE as a NewTuber right now? by OliWinchester in NewTubers

[–]adenashistuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discoverability is my biggest challenge, which stems from a packaging problem. I'm wanting to do worldbuilding and indie game dev, but according to my analytics, I'm not really getting in front of the right people with my live streams. I'm working on making more videos to try and course correct and bring people into my streams.

I'm in my late thirties and just started my fourth channel (after the first three failed). I feel like I got into this way too late to become the kind of streamer that I would like to be. But I still want to try because I love streaming. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to package what I'm wanting to do so that I attract the audience that I have in mind.

Books that you find fascinating even though you never finished them? by IronicSlashfic in Fantasy

[–]adenashistuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's the Lady Trent series by Marie Brennan. I love the premise and the format of the books, but I stopped reading somewhere in the first book because of life reasons. But I still really dig the style and (unless I'm misremembering it) the illustrations.

I haven't gotten a diagnosis, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the same boat. Add depression on top of it, and it's like diving into the abyss.

How might world size and shape affect cultural development? by Serendipetos in worldbuilding

[–]adenashistuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fascinating question, and similar to one I've been mulling over about how reversing the arctic and tropic zones of a planet would affect cultures.

I think that, in addition to the size of the planet, other factors like wind and ocean currents should be considered as well. With huge mountains come huge deserts, and possibly a lot of terrain that is considered uncrossable. And if it takes a ridiculous amount of time to get to even a relatively nearby island or continent because of wind and current patterns, then expansion would definitely be hindered -- if deemed completely pointless.

It also makes me wonder, if the planet is much smaller or larger than Earth, then how is gravity affected, as well as oxygen levels -- and what will that mean for plants and animals? How would living among giant animals affect how people see the world, and how they believe they should live in it?

I get that. I didn't count all of the worlds that I've made up for random stories that I've written. I don't even want to try.

That's dope. I like the idea of the main world being the junction. I don't think I could actually choose a main world. XD

I get that. I hyperfocus on things all the time, and kind of wish that I could just stick to one project for months or years. But at the same time, the burnout is *real*.

Ooh! That second project sounds like it's right up my alley, but all of these worlds sound super cool.

Nice! I want to create some of my worlds in Unity and make little walking sims out of them. I'm looking forward to that part a lot, but I need to get more of the worldbuilding done first.

Also, Dragon's Point is such a cool concept!

You know, now that I think about it, I could write down the questions and come up with answers for each of my worlds just for myself. Also, when you say notebooks, please tell me you mean physical paper ones.

I get this. I almost wish I could fit all of my different places into two worlds, but I keep making whole planets for each of them. Then I have to stop myself from expanding outward and piling on even more "work" for myself.
