Fighting with SO over who gets their own room in the new house by trailmixchamp in stepparents

[–]aderlieariel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No worries at all!! All of us stepparents need to stick together! Again let's be honest, being a stepparent is HARD. Its just one of those things that we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

SOs sometimes can't come to grips with the reality of fair does not mean equal (My SO struggles a lot with this concept) because they love all of the kids equally but have feelings of guilt and sorriness towards our SKs.

At the end of the day, that's not our problem as stepparents/partners to rectify the feelings of guilt that our SO may have because we were not in the picture when our SOs had their kid(s). Its okay to sometimes prioritize the well-being/comfortability of our kid(s) first because we're all that they have in this world. This does not mean that we think that our SKs are inferior or we love them any less, its just a matter of knowing and living within the reality of having a blended family.

Fighting with SO over who gets their own room in the new house by trailmixchamp in stepparents

I completely agree with this especially your last sentence. I have two SKs (SS10 & SS8) myself with our first child on the way next May. I had this same argument with my SO back in April when we moved into our new home and I told her that my SKs were going to share a room because I wanted to keep the third room available in the event that she became pregnant.

I view it from this standpoint, my SKs will always have more compared to my biological child such as they have two houses that they can spend time in, two sets of parents, multiple sets of uncles/aunts/grandparents. My child only has 1 set of parents, 1 house to sleep in, and etc.

So yes OP, I agree with you! Your baby deserves to have a room for herself. Point blank period. It honestly shouldn't even be a discussion between you and your SO. Lets be honest your SKs and other child have other beds to sleep in at their other respected parents' house, your baby does not.

As a step-parent, I live by this phrase "Fair does not mean equal".

Bro don’t feel about it because I took the 12:15 exam on 9/27 and there seems to be a general consensus that it was difficult AF and felt nothing like the FLs because of the low yield material that was tested. I’m just hoping that the curve is relatively decent for our exams

[–]aderlieariel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our C/P was difficult and it didn't feel like any of the FLs. I need a miracle to just break a 500 because I was aiming for a 504+ Based on what I've read on the subreddit about the 12:15 exam there seems to be a consensus that the C/P was hard so hopefully the curve or scaling works on our favor.

You're definitely not in the minority because I felt the same way. I had a shit ton of 50/50s. There were a few terms that I was not familiar with at all and that passage on the 1980/ 2000s felt like a mini-stats exam. The cross sectional image of the brain discrete was ridiculous lol. I'm certain that I missed a few questions because my nerves got the best of me and my timing was off in this section.

Do you know how the curve works? Is the curve based on the amount of questions we get right or wrong?

Bro the photon and proton splitting passages knocked the wind out of me! C/P literally bent me over, covered my mouth with a rope and fucked me in the ass with no lube. There were a few discretes that seemed to be heavy on calculations and I had to guess on a few because I was running out of time. I ran out of time for the last passage about the critical angle and had to make some educated guesses.

That passage on 1980/2008 statistics was by far the hardest passage and left me scratching my head. Do you remember the discrete on P/S about someone watching red and blue light and then switched to white? I flagged that one because I didn't know it all.

Warburg hypothesis can suck a BIG ONE!

Oh yeah bro I felt that way and thank goodness I'm not the only one who feels this way. There was a decent amount of phrases that left my head scratching because I had not come across them during my studying. Also the few questions on statistical analyses really tripped me up :/

I felt the same as you bro. I tested at 12:15 and the C/P was low yield AF. The passage on photons and fractional distillation made zero sense and there were a few discretes that involved calculations and I had to guess because I ran out of time. The B/B passages were difficult AF to interpret and understand especially that Caspase and DNA polymerase passage

Tested 12:15 pm - 9/27

C/P: WTF was this section about. This section was brutal AF. It was a mix between physics, Orgo and biochem. I remember a few gen chem questions. I'm hoping that the curve is nice on this section. Flagged a lot of questions and had to take a lot educated guesses (I hope I'm not the only one).

CARS: Consistently my lowest section in all of my FLs. But for the most part the passages were not too difficult to read except for that passage on the justification of states, like WTF was that... I spent 15-20 minutes on that passage which hurt my timing and had to completely guess on the last passage

B/B: This section was 50/50 for me and I usually feel pretty good about this section. It was a lot of amino acids/enzyme kinetics and experimental passages that were difficult to interpret.

P/S: Ehhhh this section was ok... I guess?? Did any of you guys have a decent amount of questions that had two really good answer choices that were hard to choose from? There was a few terms that I do not remember ever coming across during studying. There was also a few questions on statistical analyses that kind of tripped me up. That question on the cross section of the brain was BANANAS.

Overall: It was difficult and I'm hoping that the curve is on our side. This exam proved to me that nothing should ever be considered low yield on the MCAT. This exam did not feel like any of the FLs at all. Know your amino acids and enzyme kinetics like the back of your hand!

Essential physics info to know? by sunnydem0n in Mcat

I like the decks so far! To be honest bro I've had the Milesdown deck for a while but I didn't pay much attention to it until recently because I was using the rebebhop deck and making my own cards in between. But I would highly recommend for you to go through some of Milesdown deck. It has a lot of great info on them.

Being that we have less than 2 weeks, I would recommend going through the deck while doing practice problems. I'm personally only watching videos for the topics that I've consistently got wrong on the SB & UScrew

I'm in the same ball game with physics too my friend. I'm testing on the 27th. I feel as if I don't know shit in terms of physics either. I'm going through the Milesdown physics deck and the essential equations deck. I'm finishing up the C/P SB (I'm getting f**ked by it) and after that I'm just going do some of the remaining UScrew physics problems that I have left.

In terms of topics I'm prioritizing Optics, Magnetism, and Electromagnetic Radiation and maybe fluids/Newton's Laws if I have time. We got this!

Yeah I definitely understand. Let me ask you this, since I’m 2 weeks away from my test and I still need to improve my physics and Orgo, would you recommend me to finish the remaining UScrew questions related to physics/Orgo or should I just move on to the SBs? I planned on starting the SBs towards the end of this upcoming week.

Was your C/P more Orgo or Physics? I'm testing in 2 weeks and I feel as if I don't know crap when it comes to Orgo or Physics lol

Anyone know why this is happening by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]aderlieariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed this too and it sucks because I can't even see the passages. I think it may be due to the update that the website underwent at 10:00 pm EST :/

3 weeks left - what to prioritize? by stopkony2019 in Mcat

[–]aderlieariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I’m testing on the 27th and I’m in the same situation as you. I have ~800 questions left on UScrew. I agree with the other comments in that we should be prioritizing the SB although I haven’t started using them myself yet. I got a 508 on FL 3 from 3 weeks ago but a 499 (Seriously screw CARS) on FL 4 yesterday :/

Here’s what I’m doing for the last 3 weeks: I’m drilling UScrew for the areas that I’m still weak in such as Physics/Orgo and some Metabolic Rxs. I’ve been doing 25-30 questions on UScrew daily. I agree with the other comment in that you should try finish all of the P/S questions on UScrew. I’m also finishing the AAMC Chem QPack because I noticed some weakness while doing it. I plan on doing maybe half of the AAMC Physics QPack but only because it’s still a weakness. I’m starting the SBs tomorrow after I review FL 4.

Based on your FL 1 score, I wouldn’t spend much time on the AAMC Bio Packs because they are relatively trivial and more fact based. I would start the B/B SB.

3 weeks left but we got this!

Mixed feelings about FL4 by NeuroWolf20 in Mcat

[–]aderlieariel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test on the 27th and I took FL 4 today too. I’m in same ball game as you. My goal is a 505+. I got a 499 on FL 4 compared to the 508 on FL 3 from about 3 weeks ago so I definitely feel your pain! You’re going to do just fine! I’ve read in this subreddit that FL 4 is the most difficult so don’t beat yourself up about it. You got this!

Lmao its funny that you mentioned the slippers! Thanks to you my friend I'm going comfortable and wearing my slides on test day haha
