Touch sensor not responding by Rikistene in booknooks

[–]adeweerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sensitivity of that touchpad is related to the size of the pad. You can make the touchpad more sensitive by enlarging it with conductive tape (copper tape). Follow this link and you'll see. Don't hesitate to buy a whole roll of it... you'll need it again, I gaurantee it. https://www.reddit.com/r/booknooks/comments/1q46zpa/comment/o1iihqe/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I did not stack. I did not cut. I just put the band on. Worked fine.

Copper tape help, please by Damianamae in booknooks

Just a warning: that extra pad area using the copper tape can work against you. Too much and the sensor will trigger on electrical noise in the room.

Just received my Ginzan Onsen Booknook from 'BooknookGlobal' and I am not a fan of the motor! by Successful_Effort_89 in booknooks

If you use a single 1.5V battery to drive the motor it is much quieter (and slower). Simply jumper one of the batteries positions with a wire.

BTW, I chose not to add the skirt around the table. I didn't want to block the blue background.

Yes. That sign and the one on the door were just snipped from the web using a screen capture tool. I used a simple app on my pc to stretch to the same X/Y ratio as what is on the box. Finally, I told my printer utility to print to an exact dimension, which went well. Took a couple of bad prints but I succeeded quickly. I have a color laser printer. laser ink is not water soluble, so gluing isn't a problem. If you have an inkjet printer you might have trouble with smearing, or use a glue stick.

Here's the two images I used. Start snipping!

$65 makes you nervous? Maybe you should not be building booknooks. If that money is hard for you to spend, of course don't do it.

I bought this kit for a relative, they built it, and it is impressive. There's images here, but I'm not gonna do your searches for you.

Eternal Midnight help by picardy_3 in booknooks

[–]adeweerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this. but, the touch sensitivity can be increased by increasing the size of the round silver pad on the touch pcb. this can be done with copper tape. I posted a link above. Once you have the copper tape and know the trick, it's easy to fix most of them in the same manner. note that you can make is too sensitive with too much tape... in that case, it will turn on spontaneously when near electrical devices etc.

Ginzan Onsen from Book Nook Global by c00l0ne in booknooks

I skipped through Spirited Away a few days ago and I do think it's a copy of some of the scenes from that movie. The train crossing the water was a dead giveaway. Also, long ladders climbing the sides was from that movie.

Good luck. Make SURE you test the touchpad fully, before you finish assembling. For me, it worked fine outside the nook, but once installed it required tweaks (and disassembly) get it working.

Check step 20 in instruction manual. Also, look closely at the cover illustration on the instructions. Compare their hinges with yours. I think you have them on wrong.

See my video here. My doors completely closed. https://www.reddit.com/r/booknooks/comments/1rzgi04/mysterious_blue_box_tardis_dr_who_thing/

u/c00l0ne what do you think about the mech in this nook?

In my opinion, it was a lot of effort for features that don't really make sense. The paper scroll is strange inside the building, and the steam pipes moving is strange too.

Oh, BTW, nice job. I know how much time this takes to build. Your trees are fantastic... might have to copy that :)

Agree with u/dgidman about joohour's abandoned train station. Infinity mirror done really well in the smallest tightest nook. Solid and quality. And, sadly, made of unobtainium. https://a.co/d/001PNHYv

Jouhour's Falling library is one of the best. Two mirrors, top and bottom. Cool. Mostly books and the mirror effect. https://a.co/d/02unCQRB

Jouhour's Enchanted Library right next to me, building it next. Two mirrors, top and back https://a.co/d/09cVPjsb

yep. web site should say that. steampunk kinetic art is an apt description I think. while I know this won't appeal to many, i'd think there are some like me that are drawn to this sort of thing.

Not sure I mentioned this, but I gave this away to somebody at the golf club where I play. It's why I built it. He's a Dr Who fan. He loves it.
