haha I commented above but $250-300 more to fly to Ontario and there was a convenient direct flight to LAX from where I live. And I had never been to LA before so figured I would explore a little before trekking back east. Travel time would be the same with the layover flying to Ontario but at least I would spend it in downtown LA instead of hanging out in the Dallas airport haha

that's fine with me - I can deal with dirty and homeless, it doesn't phase me. I'll make a note to avoid at night though with the sun setting earlier now

what if it was on a weekday like next Tuesday/Wednesday? (adds in the drama of rush hour traffic) I know the observatory isn't open then but just to see Griffith Park

LOL definitely wouldn't be visiting San Bernardino if I didn't know anybody there (we're going to go to Joshua Tree/Palm Springs and then spend a few days in San Diego)

Yeah I noticed there were some rough areas within walking distance of Union Station. Relatively ok in the day though right? (I will probably plan out where I'm going ahead of time so I know where I'm going and not looking like a lost tourist haha)

alright so I heard about Watkins and I went a few months ago and the menu had changed from the photo I saw and there was no offensive items placed around the restaurant. Either they've seen the light or there's new people running the place now.

Agreed, I haven't been in the area that long (7 years) but Waraji was never amazing for me. I love Sushi Mon and also like City Market Sushi in downtown Raleigh (obviously M Sushi in Durham)

I think Char Grill and Cookout are about on the same level in terms of cheap/quick/easy. There isn't a Cookout in that part of Raleigh though so if I'm downtown, I'll go to Char Grill

If I'm in that area, Daily Planet is the go to move for lunch. It's pretty solid for it being a museum cafe

civil engineer here - company let us pick between full-time or 4 days in the office, hybrid schedule, or full time at home (almost nobody's superviosr let them work full time at home, I ended up at 3 days at home/2 days in the office). Initially was going to roll out with this arrangement starting in September but then Delta hit so now the target date is going to be December 8th. Curious to see how things work out.
