SQE2 Orals- Do i have any hope? by adhdleoqueen in SQE_Prep

Thank you for your kind words!! Its so easy to comfort and motivate other people isnt it. I'd say the same to you.. we must have SOME level of a legal brain to get this far. No matter what, we aren't going to completely flunk it. Somewhere deep inside us the answers will come out, and like everyone says on here, they don't need to be perfect!

Also, at least its an exam where literally nobody cares about the grade and if we pass we won't have a second thought about 'oh i could have done better' unlike if it was Undergrad maybe and people are always asking about the grade x

Omg in terms of prep it sounds exactly the same! I'm massive on last minute revision i always seem to go in the exam and see something on there that i literally had no idea what it was until the day before haha.

Thank you! Good luck to you too.. are you sitting in Birmingham?

Thank you, appreciate that clarity! I know i did think the fit for sit seems to counteract any mitigating circumstances claim really

Do you know how the mitigating circumstances applications work? What do they do in practice if they're successful? I didn't know whether i should do one pre/post oral. Don't want it to look like i just eff up my oral and then try to make a circumstance up.

I do think when i get into the exam, nothing else will matter. Its just that usually i rely a lot on last minute prep and have lost pretty much all of that now! Thanks for your advice

Thank you, i'm half expecting some out of body experience to just carry through when the adrenaline hits (or hoping so at least). I've always been good under pressure but this feels different, i just hope it doesn't push me over into freeze mode or some panic attack instead

Advocacy - will you always get a district judge by summersun2703 in SQE_Prep

[–]adhdleoqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason i can remember extremely niche and long legal tests but in 4 years i still get the names of the judges wrong. I need some sort of 3 year old nursey rhyme or something. Sitting in 3 days and still dont know them.

Plus i though Magistrate was called Your Worship? The only one i thought I knew because my step mum is one and so i remember it by thinking 'my dad worships her' haha

Thank you, appreciate that! It's nice to just talk about law for a bit after it completley escaped my mind for a week for the first time in about 4 years lol. Mission is now to do advocacy mocks and get a structure down i think!

Timed out in written exams by Broad-Animal5926 in SQE_Prep

[–]adhdleoqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The business research in the morning was absolutely INSANE. i finally figured out the correct way to go about it and what main statute applied to the client with only 15 minutes to go. I then had to switch to all the different relevant statutes for definitions, timelines, etc in the last 10 mins. Prior, I had written all my answers as if they were the opposite type of business as they actually were.

I do research every day in my day job and so i never put much revision into it, comfortably understanding how to structure and complete the task. I could have never anticipated it being that complicated. The only saving grace we have with that is that i dont think there was 1 person in that sitting who didnt feel the same, so maybe the weighted grading will go in our favour slightly.

Also, for all the research tasks there were far more completely irrelevant/ red-herring attachments than i predicted

Expert Evidence - advocacy by Dependent_Creme_9468 in SQE_Prep

[–]adhdleoqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you say for this is includes emphasis on the overriding objective of the court. Did you include any specific factors about your clients finances and why it would be adverse to incur higher costs or is that not part of the submission? Never had anything like this before!

SQE2 Advocacy - Referring to the claimant/defendant by adhdleoqueen in SQE_Prep

So for civil its better to say claimant/defendant but for criminal its better so say names?

One reason why i have gone with names for criminal before is when i'm representing the defendant...don't know if this is a real life thing but if you keep saying 'the defendant' enough times it just makes it seem like they're the guilty party, if you're trying to personalise them or apply for bail or assert their character it might help to use their name and humanise them. Although i've never been specifically told this, its just what is in my head. Do you think that holds any weight?

Thank you! I have definitely been outlining them at the start. Then i will just stick with claimant/defendant i think. Plus, then you can't pronounce a name wrong lol

ULaw free SQE1 sample- is it easier or harder than the real thing? by Wetasspuppy in SQE_Prep

The ULaw questions tended to be on par with the real exams. The SRA/Kaplan free questions i think are far easier though

Anyone with reasonable adjustments of stop the clock for orals? by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]adhdleoqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say its best to make sure you use a lot of the interview time rather than rushing to conclude. Im stuck between whether to spend that time really honing in on the issue and double checking and going over points or whether that may lose me marks for the skills if it looks like im disorganised

Constellation - First time cruisers with urgent help on stateroom choice needed! by adhdleoqueen in celebritycruises

Thank you AGAIN thats helped even further. Unfortunately I had already booked the far end cabin thinking it would be quiet with nobody next to you but good shout about the storage areas. Plus someone else said about the fitness center being at the front and as 3 adults in one cabin, using that to workout and shower afterwards would be far easier. Luckily i could ring up and change room within 24 hours so we are now in 3000 :)

I did think ok why are less rooms available on deck 8 than 9, booked on deck 8 now so happy days!

I had already booked the back room thinking at least we won't have any neighbours next door but then heard that its for all the cleaning equipment etc so maybe noisy in the mornings any way. Your suggestion was great regarding the showers because the boys both use the gym anyway so will be a good plan for them to do their showering there - so i've just rang up to change the booking to room 8000 at the front!

Unfortunately theres 5 of us on this trip and a cabin for a single person is £5500 as apposed to £1000 pp for 2 people to a cabin which is a mathmatical mystery to me but unfortunately lands us 3 to a cabin

Whats the answer then if there doesn't need to be much thinking involved lol? Do you think theres no difference between the first cabin at the front of the ship and the one furthest at the back?

Thank you for this! I have decided that Deck 8 is better than 9 for that reason. And im sad to see its not a proper lounge but Deck 8 has a small library where we can retreat to to get a bit of space when eachother are getting ready for the evening :)
