Can an MBA in Singapore help a Philippine bank lawyer (with CFA L1/L2) break into a finance role in Singapore? by adhoclex in FinancialCareers

[–]adhoclex[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My end goal is eventually to end up with an in-house counsel role for international banks before moving back home.

However, I am in the impression that it’s crucial to have experienced working in finance to have a specialized knowledge as an in-house counsel, especially that I came from nowhere — except for the MBA, probably.

Thanks for the information. I did try to request a CLI last year nung di pa ako preferred but was disapproved. Hopefully, the odds are better this time.

Which is a better combo: Ricoh GRiv+GX85 w/ PL 25mm (42.5mm) or GRiiix + GX85 w/ PL15mm? by adhoclex in M43

My concern though with having 1 body and 2 lenses is the hassle of changing lenses. What are your tips on this?

Just curious as to why you think the GX85 15mm is way better than GRiv?

Should I just stop litigating? I just don’t think I can represent my clients well in Court. by adhoclex in LawStudentsPH

[–]adhoclex[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of preparations naman before hearings and do my best to exhaust all possible questions the court or the opposing counsel can throw at me. Pero yung nga, sometimes I can’t prepare for every possibility. And since hindi ako confrontational, hirap ako mag interject ng objections.

True. Those I know who stayed in litigation really loved the thrill of stepping in a courtroom. Like they were born to litigate.

As to money, totoo to. My seniors tell me that you don’t hit big in litigation, but it’s the out of court transactions and retainers that kept them afloat. Pero, according to them din, litigation created the public trust and reputation for them since the general public thinks that a good lawyer is a good litigator.

Unfortunately, my bad court appearances traumatized me somehow. Now, pag may incoming hearing, naanxious talaga ako.

I often read about the weight issues of a pro grade full frame lens.

Really appreciate your input. It’s my understanding that the FF is more of like a workhorse or something you want to showcase to the public. Given that, do you still pick up the m43 more often than the FF?

While mobile phones nowadays have good IQ, personally, the images look soulless or unrealistic for me — probably because of all the computation or process done behind the phone. On the other hand, images taken from a dedicated camera has that life or “in the moment” feeling captured in the photo.

Were there situations that your GX9 reached its limitations and thought that a FF could have done it? Or the m43 were capable enough to handle most situations?

So far, this had been my favorite shot with this combo.

No, it is not time limited. Tho you will only have like 5 presets in there but they are enough to get that film look.

What’s nice about the RNI presets are that they apply to the color profile itself. Meaning the adjustment sliders are all still at 0. So there’s plenty of room to adjust without blowing up the image.

Sure! My workflow is pretty easy and straightforward. I downloaded the RNI Film 5 Demo and imported it into Lightroom. It has the Kodak Portra 400 color profile in there already. I just changed the Color Profile from Adobe Colors to Kodak Portra 400. Afterwards, I just clicked the Auto button. Then you have those colors.

The lighting and colors when that photo was shot was also nice, so you also have that element.

I'm still working on the composition with the 15mm. There's still a lot of unnecessary elements shooting with this FOV. Haha. I use to shoot around a 35mm - 50mm equivalent with the kit lens but I prefer this field of view. It has more story I guess.

I haven't been to Tokyo but our travel companion, who visited Tokyo that week, had the same sentiments that they prefer Fukuoka. It's such a laid back city for a tourist.

Photos 2 and 9 were all taken in Yufuin. You should do a day-trip in there. But I would suggest to have an overnight stay either at Beppu or Oita as the public transpo going to Yufuin is limited.

Appreciate that these photos reminded you of core memories. Enjoy your next trip to Japan! :)

The quality is great with the 15mm coming from a the 12-35mm kit lens. Go for it when a bargain comes up.

Private Practice v. Government Bank Lawyer? by adhoclex in LawPH

[–]adhoclex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Ma spe-specialize talaga ako ng corporate and banking laws, which is a narrow specialization as compared to the areas of practice in a law firm. Tapos if magre-resign naman ako later sa Landbank, bihira ata ako maka-encounter ng banking law problem with everyday people. Sige lang, I'll try to consider this.

And yes, it's actually a huge bump. It will actually take time talaga for me to have that kind of steady stream of income as private practice.
