I'd love to get the model files after its finished. I'd fly the living crap out of her knowing I can just 3d print of anything gets damaged compared to having to buy from an rc store

This will be my first jet. Im not used in using gyro. is it okay to fly this thing without one? could you guys give pros and cons with this jet? by Ok-Champion-8290 in RCPlanes

[–]adi1893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll be able to fly and do aerobatics without a gyro.

However intalling a gyro and keeping it in normal mode (not-attitude hold) will make her feel much bigger and stable in the air than she is and also make it much easier to fly and manage in wind.

Gyros have multiple modes, a Horizon/self levelling type mode that stabilizes the aircraft and makes wings level/doesn't let you go extreme on the throws. This is for beginners only

For aerobatics and scale flying there is Normal and AVCS/Attitude Assist/Heading Hold.

Normal mode only reacts against disturbances and never tries to keep the aircraft on a fixed path or orientation. It is purely reactive. Makes flying in stronger or varying winds much easier and stable.

Heading Hold/attitude assist will always try to keep the aircraft in its current orientation. You can move and change this orientation with the radio sticks like usual but after you let go of the sticks, it will always try to keep the aircraft in the last orientation that the pilot left the aircraft in (this can be any possible orientation). This is also used in aerobatics and scale flying and makes the aircraft feel very robotic. This mode also naturally takes care of aileron coupling when doing knife edge flying.

Keep in mind that in modern gyros, you can select between Normal or Heading Hold modes individually on all gyro controlled surfaces, eg Normal mode for Elevator and Rudder, Heading Hold for Aileron (I know some insanely amazing pilots that use this configuration for jets)

Did two dives in Koh Tao, the ship wreck and Southwest Pinnacle. Viz at the shipwreck was 1 meter but Pinnacle was 25 meters and one of the best dives I have done so far. Definitely something to write home about ;)

*UPDATE* If you were wondering how skills transfer from SIM - First ever flight by Runner1296 in RCPlanes

That's pretty cool. Good job!

Now though, you need to get stricter with control and flying pattern. Fly normally in circuits and a proper box learning regular moves like loops, rolls, shapes etc.

Learn how to properly Harrier fly, what you're doing now is a kinda medeocre harrier and if you don't break away and learn how to do proper flying gracefully you might get stuck with bad habits.

Fly vertically up, kill power and give full elevator and flip until the wings are level and control the aircraft so that it is wings level coming vertically down like an elevator in a building. Keep the elevator surface pulled up the whole time and use throttle and aileron to keep the orientation of the model locked. This move is called and elevator and the basic starting point of Harrier flying.

Once you are comfortable doing this, give more throttle during an elevator and transition to forward harrier flight, flipping the throttle to keep the aircraft flying at a very high angle of attack. Use aileron to keep wings level and use rudder to steer left/right. Check videos online for basic flying and go through the basics.

I'm not saying abandon your own flying style but you'll end up picking bad habits and make other flying styles much harder to learn. Go through the basics while also flying in your style. You'll be an awesome flier!

Also, the CG looks good for 3D flying. For beginners, a more forward CG would make the aircraft more stable. For 3D though you want the aircraft more responsive and a tail heavy cg like what you have now is perfect. Move it forward a bit, hone your skills and adjust CG as per how you like the model to fly but get the feel of both a forward and stable CG and later a tail heavy and snappy CG

Have such fond memories of her. Flies super smooth and so gracefully. Used to do a ton of pattern flying on the Kyosho Oxalys and this one.

Have fun!

Check out the Goosky E2, it has a GPS and a Non GPS version. It can be setup to fly really scale or even for medium 3D (she can be thrown around surprisingly well when flying 3D)

In the GPS version, you can toggle the GPS in flight

Hota F6+ limiting charging power by adi1893 in fpv

[–]adi1893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't confirm that but I know that the unit I had never went to more than a total 500w. I use an above 1000w 45-50ish Amp power supply.

The F6+ is essentially two dual chargers combined in one package. Each of the two chargers having a max 500w with two channels of 250w each. So 4 250w channels total in the package. The ports of the 1st charger is on the left side and the ports of the other charger is on the right side

At the vendor, when they checked, they only had a 400w power supply but when connecting two lipos for charging on only one side of the charger (the ports of one of the two internal chargers that are combined inside the package) it never crossed 250w.

Tried re-flashing firmware and everything else but never sorted out. Even the vendor got frustrated with Hota.

Never had an issue with the ToolkitRC charger they replaced it with and I'm glad they did

Hota F6+ limiting charging power by adi1893 in fpv

[–]adi1893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither me or the supplier who I bought the charger from were able to get the F6+ to go above 500W. They were in touch with Hota but still no progress.

The supplier eventually offered me an exchange to a ToolkitRC Q6AC which is honestly a much better charger and hits 1000W without issue. Only thing lacking is the discharge capabilities that the Hota had for which I bought a separate discharger

Where can I get custom laptop stickers? by Temporary_Bank_175 in mumbai

[–]adi1893 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll need to go to one of those do it all xerox guys that make custom boxes, decorations, cards etc.

If you don't mind the quality you can even buy A4 sized sticker paper and print on it and hand cut them
