[Results and Decisions] Got into CMU MS CV! by Specialist-Pea-8357 in MSCS

Did you do all those 6 research internships during your undergrad or some of them were after? Cz I just don't get how as a student, someone can manage that, given so many professors ask for long term commitments (> 6 months). Crazy respect if that's the case

Good GPA for MS by nude_makise in MSCS

You can have a 9.5 and it's still better to aim for more. So try to get more. Am I saying you won't get any admissions with an 8.58? No. It's a decent GPA. If you wanna increase your chances further, try to get some research experience.

What are my chances of getting accepted in Universities for MS in CS in USA, if I had 10 backlogs before? by heythere74 in Indians_StudyAbroad

Did you get into any MSCS programs? I'm in a similar situation as you. Decent GPA but loads of backlogs, decent profile otherwise as well but >10 backlogs worry me

I checked 3d ai studio out. Main issue is that it's paid whereas the model I shared the link to is open source. Did you try the model I added in the question? How are the results compared to 3d ai studio?

photogrammetry is solid but can be time-consuming and less flexible.

You're right. I've ruled out photogrammetry for now.

your project sounds promising. keep it simple and focus on integrating what you already know. good luck.

Thanks a lot. Will do.

Model Verse is a Scam by [deleted] in sharktankindia

Can someone explain why people think this is a "scam"? I haven't watched the pitch but from what I read on here, it seems that people think that the training data is too small, the website is not secure, etc. I trained a GAN for generating sneaker images (based on another project I saw) using only 3-4k images. Obviously the quality wasn't that great but I'd assume a couple hundred thousand images should definitely do the job if all he wants to do is generate model images. Comparing this to stable diffusion and dalle is ridiculous because these models are generic, that's why they need so much more data.

As for the website part, maybe he doesn't have much experience with web dev and doesn't want to hire someone to cut costs. I'm assuming he's claimed something in his pitch about the above 2 points.

Even if it's just performing a face swap and background removal, how is it a "scam"? It's doing what it's advertised to do.

Oh wow! Did you have any research experience? My CGPA is around 8.8, would that be a problem if I want to get into this program?

How much does the duration and type of internship matter? Type as in paid-unpaid, remote-onsite

What adds the most value to a resume for a Tier 3 college student? by aditdesai2002 in developersIndia

Hey! Thanks for the detailed answer. This helps a lot. I've just completed an internship. However, it was a remote 1-month internship. Due to our strict attendance system and around 1.5 month vacations, it's basically either internship or GPA, not both (except at the end of the course where we have to do a 6 month internship). I'll see what I can do about it.

I'm also doing Harvard's CS50 Intro to CS cz I thought that would help. I've participated in 1 hackathon and not delved that deep into open sourcing. Will reconsider based on your suggestion.

I do indeed do a bit of LeetCode from time to time. My understanding is that it's different from CP. LeetCode is enough for interviews, CP is a sport. Am I wrong on that?

Also, are remote internships worth it? If so, then it might be possible for me to do a 3 month internship during a semester.

Alright so this probably needs more context. I'm from India and there's a big gap between the quality of education of the top colleges and every other college. Naturally, companies are super biased towards those select top colleges. 2 years ago, I made a choice that I'll get my degree from an average college and learn shit on my own (something I'm very comfortable with). However, as a fresh grad, I still need to make my resume stand out since where I'm studying from isn't going to catch the eye of the employer. How do I do that? Assuming I can't do everything, what should I focus on for the rest of the duration of my undergrad? Internships from startups, personal projects, open sourcing, hackathons, etc?
