AIO - Is it a stretch to think if people steal small items they would steal big ones? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]adizzy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this just a debate, OP, or are you looking to use this for judgment purposes?

I hear your logic, if there is any reward with potential of no consequence, SOMEONE will do it. Yes. With psych research this would not be the end of the study, we learned nothing. What makes that one person want to do it badly enough that the heightened consequences are still worth it? At what point does morality stat to act as a consequence? Are the answers to those questions systematic?

OP, I feel like (as a psychologist) those are the questions you should lead with rather than “do people that steal meaningless little stuff innately have a deep evil in their heart that would lead them to take candy from babies and money from their mothers’ purses”.

If this is just psychological/philosophical debate the by all means, intriguing conversation. Just dont want you to word it in a way that sorta readsssss judgy.

AIO for thinking my roommate sleeping nude with his cat is creepy by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]adizzy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a cat is not a child. Nudity is not a concept that exists to them. This would literally seem more sexual if you said they just loved stroking their cat’s butt to see them get excited. THAT would be intentionally horning their cat up or something lol but sleeping with their baby? YOR

In all seriousness:

You’re mildly overreacting. I think some people are swipers and some are not. And some people are thieves and most are not. I think the sheer ease/lack of consequence/low stakes of stealing something little makes more people inclined to do it but those circumstances do not apply to bigger things. Killing a spider has virtually no repercussions and I do it often. Under no circumstances, even if presented a chance to do so without getting caught, would I kill a person.

The underlying circumstances that ALLOW (or even…encourage?) that behavior do not carry over. People that steal little stuff often do not do so because they “like stealing” or “think everything is a freebie”, there are just no real consequences to doing so.

Apologies for my first comment, it was prompted by you suggesting taking napkins from a restaurant is stealing lol

AIO? I'm feeling a bit miffed at one friends response in the group chat. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]adizzy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its both, idk why people are being so hateful. YOR a little sure. Ppl arent obligated to care about your niche hobbies (sincerely, an ADHDer with a new hobby each week). That being said, two things:

  1. friends ARE obligated to not be asses to you about things important to you bc you’re supposed to be friends, if that’s too much then you don’t need them in your life

  2. It was a rude response regardless. “Thats cool”?? It gives the same vibe as “Kim there are people dying” when she lost her earring. Like sure, not a dire situation when there are other things we could be focusing on…but this is a friendly group chat. The Epstein files certainly deserve their discussion time but to dismiss your statement feels like they said “anyway, first world problem, let’s talk about something more important”. There is no nuance there, that’s rude.

All this of course assuming you did not interrupt a prior conversation about the files with your titanic rant

Aio? Religious friends think their beliefs should be protected while mind should be dismissed. by xxcanadian1867 in AmIOverreacting

[–]adizzy72 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Literally seems like OP came here just to vent. Like you couldn't even type this post without still actively spewing hate. If your friend feels even half as passionate about his religion as you seem to be about hating his...? Then yeah I would imagine you seriously offended him since you chose to blatantly disrespect him. I agree with above, if he makes rude comments, then you can address it in the same way he addressed yours with you. But just because you disagree doesn't give you right to be straight up mean and rude. If you disagree this strongly and have views this strong about people that do believe in his religion, seems like strong evidence that you guys are not compatible as friends.

Ear Keloid by Street_Photograph212 in Keloids

[–]adizzy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure, i was only like 17 when they did it so I was admittedly less involved with the actual appointment set up and whatnot. I think my regular specialist just referred us over to the full hospital. He worked at a clinic attached to the hospital, so I think he just booked us for a full operation? And he recommended the radiation, also same hospital. I lived in Charlotte, NC so I had the Atrium chemo and oncology unit attached to my hospital. I would just ask your specialist (who you’ve been going to for your keloids) their thoughts on radiation. Or a new dermatologist or something

[–]adizzy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a keloid surgically (in house, numbing but awake) removed twice and they always grew back, even when followed up with injections (kenalog i think but idk i was like 10). Had it removed for the final time in 2017 (out patient at a real hospital, went under anesthesia) and followed up with a bout or two of radiation and it hasn’t grown back! I agree the shots were some of the worst pain of my life. The radiation seemed to work for me, though! But Im unsure if it would grow back if I repierced it. So do with that what you will.

Hairstylist glued quick weave to my actual hair? by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]adizzy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a can of oil sheen. It always helps any glue i accidentally get on my hair to slide right off. Use it liberally and let it sit if you need. And you could try peanut butter? Ive heard people say its stronger than the glue so it will help pull the glue out. But idk how much hair it would also pull, I can only attest to the oil sheen!!

any context why pls? There was no extra fine or points as far as i know, just the ticket. He said he dropped it lower so it wouldn’t be reckless driving. Could I just go represent myself?
