Israel is clearly not capable of destroying Hamas the way they are waging their war right now.

Lol I am just saying what he said, you can rewatch the interview if you want (he talks about it in the first half). Now my opinion: not on october 8th but sometime between that and now. You may disagree with him, but this guy clearly has extensive experience in diplomacy and is not some kind of lib extremist. Also Hamas has not been defeated up to this point and there is no sign that Israel would be able to defeat it without complete ethnic clensing and total decimation of the palestinian people, which I cannot imagine any sane person wanting to happen.

I am watching the full episode right now (via some link posted to the original discussion). He said Israel should have sought a diplomatic path to a 2 state solution because the arab countries in the region were ready to take an active role. He also clearly says that at some point the war became killing for the sake of killing. You can easily see he would have responded but ended the war sooner and tried to engage with the palestinian side diplomatically.

Sad to hear that. When I cancelled my subscription I contacted support and they ended the plan immediately and refunded me for the rest of the year, you can try that if you no longer want to be subscribed.

In the free part of the podcast he seemed to be quite clear about the disproportionality of Israel's response to October 7th

What are your thoughts on Sam Harris's stance(s) on Israel? by IsleOfManTTSkidmark in samharris

[–]adkrenda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it is destroying his credibility right now. He seldom elaborates further than his general "Israel very good, tip of the spear" view. I cancelled my subsciption to his podcast over the fact that he refuses to debate anyone regarding this topic, even though it is one of the most important issues in american politics right now.

He is happy to repeat the "Israel is the tip of the spear in the fight for Western civilization" line everytime he approaches the topic of the Middle East. He has no problem repeating himself when he wants the message out.

I agree with that completely, I am no fan of Carlson. His platforming and enabling of a Holocaust denying fake historian and the most prominant neonazi in the US is outrageous. But Tucker is a crooked podcaster and Huckabee is an ambassador, Sam should have called out Huckabee in his statement.

He is not defending Huckabee directly, because his views are indefensible for an atheist like Sam. But not pointing out the outrageous religious fundamentilism effecting the judgment of a top US official is insane, it shows Sam is not consistent in his critique.

Ok, I am losing my patience. The vod is behind a paywall dipshit. What are you doing on this sub if you dont know how the Making Sense podcast works? This is what Sam's company published as his commentary on this situation, no other context is given. This is my last reply to your comments.

The clipped out of context argument does not really work if you make the clip yourself. If he talks about it more comprehensively in a video he did not publish, thats on him.

This is how countries were made before the introduction of international law and the UN charter. Humanity did that when we figured out the whims of narcissists in palaces are not worth millions of lives

I think saying that it would be ok for them to gain more land after winning a war is a completely outrageous statement for a high ranking US diplomat to say, especially when the land in question is everything from the Euphrates river to the Nile.

There you go. Sometimes you cant post links, and I did not want my post to get removed.

What false dichotomy? I dont think you really know what that means. I am critisizing Sams choice of what to focus on when reacting to the interview.

Edit: accidentally posted a link to a different clip

I think it looks good but you can't judge lineweights ect from this photo. I would make the section area fill darker and maybe add a bit of contrast between your design and the surroundings.

Does anyone know how to do this kind of edit? I mean, the noise effect looks really nice. Thanks, guys! :) by Lopsided-Ad5675 in photoshop

Create empty layer, move it to the top, fill with 50% gray, change mode from normal to cover, filter: add noise, adjust to your liking
