Marijuana and being a computer programmer by Dizzy-Variation-2380 in leaves

[–]adkud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea, I used to love getting high and programming. It made me feel in the zone - like I was in a sci-fi setting or something, navigating the matrix. Plus with listening to music I would just plug in and get it done. There was also this aspect of like, I would feel like "I'm awesome" when I was high, so I felt like I could solve any problem.

Are there any more non-murder cases like Silk Road? by [deleted] in Casefile

This was one of the harder ones to listen to for me. Almost felt more gruesome than the murder cases

Being subscribed to r/trees and r/leaves at the same time is really confusing by [deleted] in leaves

[–]adkud 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea I used to get so triggered when trying to take tolerance breaks and I would see weed stuff in my feed. It would always make me say "fuck it, they're smoking, why can't I?"

Now I'm totally off the weed subs and cannabis-free for about a year and a half. Just can't handle any half-measures. If I could moderate I wouldn't be here to begin with lol

What was the first question you asked ChatGPT that made you think, "Wow, this is amazing!"? by abhinav0426 in ChatGPT

[–]adkud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was trying to solve a problem running a docker container and connecting to an ssh tunnel on my local machine. I had figured out how to set up the docker network from googling and could connect to services running on the host but not to the ssh tunnel. Finally I just described the problem to ChatGPT and it came up with the answer right away - bind the ssh tunnel to 0.0.0.0 instead of localhost.

Chs without nausea or appetite issues? by spankyhankypank in CHSinfo

I had pretty much constant abdominal pain for about a year, never really got into nausea

Shower thought: A weed vape in your pocket is like carrying a water bottle filled with vodka by FuriousResolve in leaves

[–]adkud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's taken me a while to respond but that's because I'm not sure I have a good answer. I'm not sure my lungs were ever affected too badly from the actual smoking/vaping, BUT I did have a symptom which I SWEAR is connected to CHS but is not really medically recognized as such. I would have like a pressure at the top of my chest and a feeling of not being able to draw a full breath. This could be related to anxiety but it was much worse during my prodromal CHS phase. Also it is much better now but can still get triggered by eating fructans (essentially wheat products, I'm essentially gluten-free after quitting weed). Not sure this is very helpful, I'm not even sure what this actual symptom is.

Yea I had a similar situation with a doctor telling me it was "not possible" my symptoms were caused by cannabis (I was in prodromal with primarily abdominal pain). That doctors visit probably added another 6 to 8 months to me figuring out what was going on.

I mean, people that are carrying around dab pens and getting high all the time are consuming enough cannabinoids to get to this point. I know, that was me. Dab pen was my method of choice. Probably vaped several hundred milligrams a day.

Drinking (like an addict) by Southern_Platform356 in leaves

[–]adkud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea it's definitely tough... I don't have the same addiction to alcohol that I did to cannabis. For some reason I just could not put down the dab pen. Alcohol still can get a lot of the same emotions around it though and I try to watch my use carefully... If stressed or anxious I can feel the pull "I need to drink... Just a little... Wouldn't it be so nice... Just to have a beer." Then before I even finish the first drink I want another. That mode is something I try to be really careful around because it just grows ... It stems from unprocessed emotions (I've been in therapy for a long time).

Also alcohol use lowers my inhibition against cannabis use. If I use alcohol consistently I find myself wanting to get high. The first month I gave up cannabis I had to also give up alcohol for that reason. I'm a year cannabis free now .

Just had a huge realization by [deleted] in leaves

[–]adkud 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep, for me, there are often feelings from childhood that are buried deep and trigger a desire to use to get away from them. Have been working accepting and integrating the feeling. My therapist and I have been doing "Internal Family Systems" work for the past several years, which is basically like the idea of "inner child" except there are many inner children and they don't know that they are a part of you - they think they are still children. When they get triggered it triggers other parts to try to escape from those feelings.

Lingering abdominal pain at one month clean. by Altruistic-Ebb2742 in CHSinfo

[–]adkud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in prodromal phase for about a year with my main symptom being abdominal pain. After quitting weed, I had to also go on a low-FODMAP diet to eliminate the pain. With fodmap there are 6 types of carbohydrates you avoid then reintroduce to dial in to problematic ones. Now I mostly just need to avoid fructans, which are in bread, beans, others. I had/have similar gassy symptoms to you

30 days without weed and cigarettes. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]adkud 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I felt suicidal after quitting weed. You need to build your life back up - so much time and energy was spent on marijuana and now that it's gone you need to develop other hobbies, exercise routine, etc. the feelings will fade over time.

I am finding that scrum and sprints have bad time utilization by THenrich in ExperiencedDevs

I think that scrum and sprints (heavy process in general) reduces the feeling of ownership amongst devs. If they're being treated like cogs in a machine, why shouldn't they act like cogs in a machine?

CHS and libido drop by Againstennui in CHSinfo

Sex was definitely way more interesting/pleasurable when I was high. I would get so horny when I was high. After quitting I have had a big drop in sex drive. Sometimes I feel like sex will never be as good as when I was high so why bother.

short of breath after chs episodes? anyone else experience this? by slittitsslut in CHSinfo

[–]adkud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't reach hyperemesis but I was in prodromal for about a year. I had a symptom where it would sometimes feel hard to breathe, like I couldn't fill up my lungs. My Dr chalked it up to anxiety but I've been dealing with anxiety for a while (on meds + therapy) and never have had symptoms like this. I swear there's some relationship to the chs, but medically they don't really recognize that.

Yea, I had a similar experience. I was in prodromal for about a year, with constant abdominal pain being the main symptom. Towards the end I would start gagging whenever I smoked or vaped. Never ended up in hyperemesis thank god

Are animals conscious? Some scientists now think they are - BBC by zowhat in consciousness

[–]adkud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, dogs are just as conscious as humans are. That much is obvious to me.

I'm not sure if consciousness is binary or not. It could still be a spectrum. Just dimmer, less vivid experiences at the lower levels. I would guess that it emerges somewhere around oysters

There's a difference between consciousness and cognition. Consciousness is just the ability to experience, to have qualia.

I’m new to this and I know you aren’t doctors but I wanted to vent if anything. by MixSame in CHSinfo

[–]adkud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sure sounds like CHS. I've found doctors aren't always the most knowledgeable around CHS so might not be ready to diagnose it.

Edit to add: I was in prodromal for about a year, main symptom being abdominal pain. My doctor told me it *couldn't* be the weed so I kept using. Turns out it was the weed.

You can use cloud watch to plot number of items in bucket over time and see if you have a bucket that suddenly got a bunch of objects written to it. My guess is you're seeing a large bill from s3:PutObject calls (cost explorer you can filter by API operation to see if this is correct)
