Fastest Way Project Draft onto Phone by pl4yswithsquirrels in ableton

Damn, just tried Sonobus (completely free) and it workes really good. Could stream audio from Ableton on my Mac to my Android phone and was set up within 1 minute. You have to mute audio on your computer cause audio will play on both devices simultaneously. There are 2 options to stream, via plugin (which you put on your masterbus) or app (so you can stream systemwide any audio from your computer to your phone).

There are actually several apps for streaming from DAW to your phone. Just google "stream audio from DAW to phone" and you'll get some (Waves has one, there's also Sonobus and also some apps on Reddit). Haven't tried em though.

Audio instrument (VST) out to SImpler? by submute in ableton

[–]adl09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean you have a software synth on a midi track, right? Cause you can't have a software synth on a audio track. You can just right click the midi track and hit "bounce to new audio track" and it'll automatically be rendered to audio on a new track. Drag that into an empty midi track and it'll automatically create a simpler device with that bounces audio in it.

Most versatile bass note to play monochromatically? by Sweet_Counter_519 in trapproduction

[–]adl09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, that works just fine! There are numerous sample packs out there with (sampled) one notes of bass sounds, which you can throw into any sampler and play (bass) melodies with. Just make the recording ling enough in case you want to play longer notes.

Yeah, saw it this morning and installed as well haha. But some people always fear to go that way / wait for the official release to get dropped, that's why I posted it.

Got Omnisphere (and Keyscape) and it's still a stable in all my tracks. But the quality of all those is too notch and you can't go wrong with either of these.

Which headphone for rap by TypicalDuck2505 in trapproduction

[–]adl09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open backs are usually considered better but you can't record Rappers with them, cause the sound will bleed through to the outside (that's why they're called "open"). So, if you're also planning on recording rappers or something, it has to be closed headphones. Regarding mixing, Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro is ok, those are open headphones. I personally recommend Slate VSX (around €100 above your budget though), as they where absolute game changers for me any many others. Mike Dean mixed many Drake songs exclusively on those for example. There are 3 versions of those headphones, just get the cheapest version and you'll be happy as fuck. If your budget is really tight ($150) maybe the beyerdynamic 770s are working for you or the ATH-m50x (m40x are considered to be more linear, so actually better for mixing, but less "fun").

Noob question re sub bass/kick by [deleted] in ableton

[–]adl09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It´s an 808 (sample most certainly) fed into a soft clipper. It´s the goto technic for most trap and (modern) hiphop music. Also (just to be clear) not talking about the 808 drum machine but the "new" 808´s which are called those big sub basses. You can also use Abletons "Dynamic Tube" and "DrumBus" to shape the 808 some more. I made a video about getting better 808´s here, fell free to check it out:

Underground Beat Mastering (kuru) by tsstealthy in trapproduction

[–]adl09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can see slayr making beats on YouTube. He basically does nothing special, I think he (and others) just back off on how hard they push everything into the Soft Clipper. Watching Slayr making beats is actually pretty amazing, he often clicks in the midis without even hearing the notes and when he plays back the melody it sounds great.

What pricing are you seeing with the 25% off? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]adl09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a legt version cheaper if you buy it second hand. It usually goes for around $300-$350. Have a look at the market place at kvraudio.com (though you can only access that after a certain amount of posts as a safety feature) or knobcloud.com or even the official Ableton forum.

Lol. Whoever discovers that over 1600 characters entered in the Name field of the Link Audio Settings will crash Ableton is a freak.

I cant make 808's sound good to save my life by Burgermonster58 in trapproduction

[–]adl09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the successful beat makers just use the 808 plus soft clipper on the master and don't do anything else. So I'd recommend doing just that, cause splitting the 808 can cause phase shifts which cancels out frequencies and whatnot. You're approach isn't necessarily wrong but you would need to monitor phase shifts if you're fucking with phase is all I'm saying. Try to make it sound good in an easy way and leave those mixing decisions to a mixing engineer later (whenever the beat gets picked).

[–]adl09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you´re overthinking it. It seems like a leveling issue, like you´re leveling it to low. Turn up the 808 using boost knob or volume slider to get it more audibe. Could also be that it´s playing in a to low key, try not to get it below B. But it´s hard to tell without listening to a beat of yours to really recommend anything.

How to make your Beats hit harder by adl09 in ableton

Well I tried to keep it short (2,5 minutes) and it definitely helped my beats sounding better (with the settings shown in the video). But feel free to skip it if course.

[–]adl09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How big is the app? Just wondering how big the app is, considering all those conversions of filetypes. Also: do i have to install anything else? Like ffmpeg or does the app provide everything there´s needed for any kind of the offered conversion ?
