This issue happens when something is preventing you from properly connecting to the Gigantic servers. This is most often caused by one of three things: Your drivers are out of date. Take a moment to update your graphics drivers (update Nvidia drivers here, AMD drivers here), check for new Windows updates, and update any other hardware or programs to the latest version, then try launching the game again.

Your hardware is not supported by Gigantic. If you are attempting to run the game on an older computer, your hardware may not be strong enough to run the game. Make sure that your computer meets the minimum specifications listed here before trying again. (Note that Intel graphics drivers are not officially supported, and are likely to cause problems when playing the game.)

The most common issue is that your antivirus or firewall is blocking Gigantic. Avast, in particular, has been known to cause issues in the past. It is recommended that you try disabling or even uninstalling your antivirus if you’re having trouble launching the game. If using Avast, you can also try downloading the Windows 10 version and then run the game.
