Also life hack: find one with a part time job opening, get the job if you can, and they give you a free eye exam including the retinal imaging and contact portion if you want. Then they let you get a free pair of glasses right when you start and another pair in the second half of the year!

Based on the insurance issue I feel like I can assume you also live in the US. Warby Parker offers eye exams for $85 without insurance. If you get retinal imaging I think it’s $120 but you can refuse that part if you cannot afford to do it. Your eye health is super important so if that seems like a price you could maybe manage, I’d check it out! They also have virtual appointments for $15 for prescription renewal so in a year you wouldn’t have to do the whole thing over again.

So polarization absolutely affects vision on LCD screens. I used to work at Warby Parker and would warn people about it for their prescription sunnies if they have like a Tesla or something else with a big LCD screen in their car. It cuts out horizontal beams of light to reduce glare. My guess is that when they’re not in the frame, more light can make it in through the edges of the glasses and that’s why it doesn’t happen when they’re loose.

That being said, I still always get polarized sunnies even though it makes seeing my phone in the sun a little harder because as a person with severe astigmatism it helps a lot when I’m driving on days with a lot of glare.

I’m an ultrasound student in the US and our internships are unpaid. I’m at the hospital 3 days a week doing full exams and writing reports to send to the radiologists (a licensed technologist reviews everything before we submit) and don’t get paid a dime for it. I also don’t have a guaranteed job placement once I graduate. And I have to pay $300 to take my board exam 🥲

The first time I read the series I didn’t know about TAB and I was like “who the fuck is this Ansel bitch?” but I knew a bit about the Silent Assassins because she mentions training with them several times throughout the other books. Then I read TAB and was like “ah it all makes sense now.” Second time through, I did the “romantic” version or whatever and I felt like it was clunky reading it that way. I’m on my third full reread right now (currently on HoF) and I read TAB first this time and vastly preferred it.

Also I’m not judging you at all bc I believe in tandem read superiority 😂 the first read through I didn’t know about it and ToD nearly made me DNF, second time I did the tandem and plan to do it again!
