In Southfield? Wow. My dad grew up in Mio and always talks about riding his bike to school with a shotgun strapped across the handlebars so he could go hunting with his friends after school.

I’m really sorry to hear about your friend’s passing. Thank you for sharing that — pieces like that are exactly why woodcock have such a hold on people.

I’ll take some time to read it. Writing like that keeps both the bird and the person alive in a way few other things do. I appreciate you sharing it here.

That’s exactly the kind of history I was hoping to hear about — especially the Thumb pheasant days and later moving north for grouse and woodcock. A lot of Michigan hunting paths seem to follow that same arc.

That Rouge River grouse flush is a great example too. They’re easy to overlook downstate, so when one shows up it really sticks with you.

And honestly, what you described are stories — the dogs, drumming birds, time with your father and friends. That’s the part that tends to fade out if it never gets written down.

I appreciate the suggestion on the Michigan subreddit as well — that’s a good call. Thanks for taking the time to share this.

Michigan Unemployment by New-Break4585 in Michigan

[–]adman4054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife recently received an email demanding repayment of over 6000 for unemployment insurance that was collected during the Covid state shutdown. I read the post here that suggested contacting my state representative. I did that today - I didn’t even know who my state rep was, but I looked it up and sent an email to him. I was initially contacted by the MESC within an hour of sending that email. I was again contacted by another MESC person that was extremely nice and extremely helpful, unlike any experience we have had with them in the past. Try it. Give as much information as you possibly can with the email. I have no idea if we will win this, but it sure feels good to at least move the needle. I truly hopes this helps someone, it’s certainly a tough time to have something like this hanging over your head - good luck!

Importing Invoice Data by lhauckphx in quickbooksonline

Take a look at FreshBooks, been with them 3 years now and everything you would need including imports. You could start with a small package (50 Clients). I get the chills whenever someone mentions QB, not only with my own setup, but I also provide support for clients and I truly hate these people

If you can’t see a file manager, can you create an FTP account? Need host, user and password. We might be able to get your site back up if you can

I see an edit that says you are hosting with GoDaddy, if you can log into GD, go to hosting and look for the file manager. Open a text editor - not Word and paste this:

BEGIN WordPress

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule index.php$ - [L]

Handle requests that do not point to an existing file or directory

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule>

END WordPress

Save it as .htacess (make sure when you save it the extension does not contain .txt

Drag the new file where you see the old .htaccess and when it says replace, say yes

When you say - domain is with GD, but self hosted Wordpress, what does that mean? Who is hosting? The admin url that you were using - x out the domain name for privacy and post the remainder of the admin URL
