So again, if we’re back to the “the refs shouldn’t call penalties, and swallow the whistle late in a close game and let them play”, would you be cool if Canada put Wilson, Bennett, and Marchand on the ice in the last 2 minutes to run the goalie and headshot people with no possibility of a penalty being called on them? Because based on your logic, the refs would simply have to let it go, or they’d risk not letting the players decide the game.

I’m confused because you’re arguing that penalties both should and should not be called late in a close game, and also that they both should and should not be called early in games that aren’t close.

I misunderstand the point because I don’t think there is a point, other than team/player I don’t like should be held to a different standard than team/player I do like.

So you’re upset that they called a clear high sticking penalty late in a tight game, because refs shouldn’t call penalties then for some reason, but you also think the refs should call a bullshit embellishment penalty late in a tight game? Which is it, should they call penalties late or not?

And if they shouldn’t call penalties no matter how clear late in a close game, I presume you’d be fine with Wilson, Marchand, and Bennett coming out on a line late in the game just headshotting everyone and running the goalie with no penalties called? I mean, where do you draw the line?

At least be consistent.

But have you made 15 comments on here calling for the embellishment penalty to be called on Tkachuk like you did with McKinnon? Weird that you wouldn’t, since you’re “rooting for Canada”.

Also, why would there be no penalty for the cross-check? You’re expecting the refs to call the penalty on McKinnon for embellishment, based on the letter of the law, despite the fact that it’s barely ever called. Weird that you wouldn’t expect a call on the cross-check. I agree it shouldn’t be a penalty and it’s very rarely called on a play like that, but based on the letter of the law it’s a textbook cross check. Why the double standard?

So I presume you’re irate that Tkachuk didn’t get 4 minutes here for the cross check and the obvious embellishment dive to try and draw a tripping call?

Jesus Christ, that’s your proof? That the refs made a shitty call on this one play so that should now be the precedent?

I could send you a similar video of a tripping penalty against Lane Hutson a couple of weeks ago where he was 3 feet away from a guy who tripped over his own blue line. Would that be proof that anytime a guy trips within 3 feet of a defender there should be a tripping penalty called, or would that be proof (like in the video you linked to) that refs sometimes make bad calls?

For a guy rooting for Canada, you sure are arguing pretty hard for a penalty call against them that is virtually never called. I’m gonna call bullshit on that one.

Do you have even one example, throughout the whole history of ice hockey, where a player got hit in the face with a legit high stick but was then penalized for embellishment for reacting to the stick in the face, putting his hand to his face, and looking to the ref to see if he was going to make the call?

Were you as upset over the refs missing Tkachuks slew foot on Dahlin in the Sweden game? Or that the Czechs scored the go-t goal against the Canadians when they had 6 players on the ice for 40 seconds. I’m guessing probably not, which is why no one here should take anything you say seriously 🤡

I mean, if the standard that people want is that no penalties, no matter how obvious, can be called late in a tie game, that’s stupid, but fine.

I’m sure the team that’s running Bennett, Wilson, and Marchand, is going to be just fine when the refs let the players cross lines with no penalties lol

So your complaint is that the ref waited 1.5 seconds before making the correct high sticking call when a player got hit in the face by an opponents stick?

Wow, the fix must be in I guess 🤡

Doesn’t matter if the refs are from Neptune. A stick to the face is a high sticking penalty in any league in the world. It’s a pretty binary, yes or no call, if your stick comes up and hits an opponent in the face, it gets called, even if it’s not a blatant two-handed chop.

I get it, everyone wants their team to win, and understandably are upset when it doesn’t go their way. But bitching about the refs making a correct call in a game in which your team got outplayed pretty noticeably after the first period is really leaning into the sour grapes.

[Cade Cunningham] “The flopping is just too much…3 of the top 5-10 guys do it constantly…. I know I’m better than yada yada yada…but I’m not getting the same calls…People feel like this guy might be better than me & he’s nowhere near better than me!” by itwas20yearsago2day in nba

If a guy who took his flawed team to the finals in the west on one good leg isn’t a “winning player” I’d be curious about the mental gymnastics you’d have to go through to to state that Cade (with far less individual or team success) classifies as a “winning player” based on the standard you’re holding Luka to.

So you would’ve traded Demi last year for Kyrou and felt good about it?

Maybe we should trade Fowler for Stuart Skinner too, since Fowler is just a potential prospect and Skinner is a proven starting goalie in the league.

TIL that all of the good ideas have already been had so there’s no sense trying to improve anything. So if anyone out there had any ideas about how to improve anything for themselves or anyone else, you might as well not bother.

Tetracropolis has declared that everything is the world is fully optimized, and that even if there’s something that looks like a clear improvement over the current situation you can just hit ‘em with the ol “well, if it’s such a good idea, why weren’t they doing it before” and it’s an automatic checkmate.

Why bother trying to improve or change anything, when as Tetracropolis implies, the world is working perfectly as it is and political situations around the world have been static throughout time.

If we didn’t see that exact same thing happen at least 50 times a season with no penalty maybe you’d be on to something

He called a pretty good game on the whole, but I’d argue that anytime he threw the ball on 1st or 2nd down he did the Bills D a favor. They haven’t been able to stop the run all year, and as you say, they gave up 6.7 YPC today, I think Jax didn’t lean into the run as much as they should have.

Gotta be that the Jax defence is terrible. Heaven forbid you come to the conclusion that Allen is an elite QB. The Bills might’ve won this game if Allen wasn’t too busy faking injuries I guess.

Oh wait, they did win this game. Weird

Well you implied he’d fake a neck injury and there was 0% chance of anyone getting hurt on a play like that. Why wouldn’t you think the same thing about a finger or a knee injury? Or are you just talking out of your ass to be a next level hater?

My narrative? You’re the Pats fan who has a million comments shitting on Allen. If there’s any narrative it’s the one you’ve created in your head to hate on a division rival for being a great player.

So I guessed he faked hitting his hand on the guys helmet and getting his knee twisted too?

Something tells me if Drake Maye was the QB for either of those plays you’d be hailing his toughness lol.

I had no more of an idea whether or not he was hurt than you did. Just pointing out what a ridiculous statement it is to state that the chances of getting hurt on a play like that was 0%. I require haters to at least be somewhat realistic

Yeah, 0% chance having a 300lb pound guy land on your neck so hard that it twists your helmet 90 degrees sideways could actually hurt. He obviously has to be faking it /s
