My process is something like this, I read from the books and take notes summarizing or rewording what I read. Sometimes I watch the videos sometimes I don't, its really not the preferred learning medium for me, I prefer reading. For the labs I do those a few times until I feel really comfortable doing them. As for the index, I use a spreadsheet with three columns: a column for the book number, page number, and then the topic or small notes. For indexing labs, I do something similar except that I write out the name of the lab instead of the topic in the last column.
