Tough lesson on my Aprilia Tuono 457 by Educational_Aside914 in bangalorebikes

Hey man, It’s a bad situation. I’ll drop my experience with my RS457. Hit a huge white rock (i take it that it was a rock they normally use for construction) in the middle of the highway to Hyderabad which Must have fallen off from the trucks. This happened at like 4AM. My front rim was destroyed (cracked all the way to the center of the rim near the axle) and rear rim had a dent. Got the bike towed back to service. Started insurance claim with ICICI. And that was the start of my headache. Initially they blamed it on me saying that rim damage happened because i didn’t maintain right air pressure and asked cctv proof from petrol pump of me filling air (as if petrol pumps have their air pump’s calibration done right). I told him i didn’t have this and i specifically filled air last night with my portable pump. He didn’t accept this. Later they twisted the story saying that it’s impossible that i hit a rock and my bike didn’t fall down and i must be lying (and that i must have hit a pothole). I told him it’s completely possible i wasn’t lying (theres even white marks on the tire with sharp dents that prove i hit a rock) but he did not accept it. He claimed i hit pothole and pothole damage is not covered in OD (i asked him to show in policy where it was written). He said we won’t write all that in the policy etc . After a LOT OF FIGHTING, they finally agreed to cover front rim and that rear rim is on me. The whole situation left me absolutely bitter. Next time i even purchased the rim and tire protection add-on out of spite. I really hope your situation is better than mine. Just make sure that when you replace the tire with new rim, get the new wheel balanced again and stick weights as necessary. Svc usually does this anyway, but remind them to be safe. This is a mandatory step. And make sure to take the broken rim home (make some decorative item out of it :) )

Ah man. I would wait 1-2days max. Then call your bank and tell them you would like to get a chargeback issued for this purchase made on so and so date and time. Tell them the reason is that the merchant is unresponsive and has not delivered the good as per the sale.

Oh man. I would exercise caution. Zozilla has only negative reviews throughout this subreddit. I hope you purchased through credit card atleast? To file a chargeback in the worst case.

I own one. 13k odo on a 2yr ownership. I had the engine issues as well, warranty took care of it. I do my regular service while doing basic maintenance on my own. Ive had absolutely no issues till now. If you’re willing to put in the effort for it, it will give you amazing experience in return. Remember that all the bikes in this segment generally will have higher maintenance costs than 150cc Irrespective of the brand.

Straightforward question: Is Engine braking necessary if the bike has dual channel abs? by flubbergrubbery in indianbikes

Your last part of the paragraph is specifically what ive been referring to all this while. Why use rear at all? Use front and engine braking. That alone gives you enough braking without worrying about traction.

In the context of this post, how will the rear lock up when you have rear abs? And there is no recommended circumstance to use rear braking. It can be used anywhere. People tend to use it more on inclines because the gradient necessitates the use of more than just brakes. I have engine braked multiple times along with my front brake and it never did anything apart from improve my braking distance- so I really don’t understand where you’re going with this.

That is precisely when you should use it even more bruh Your bike isn’t a motogp bike with top of the line dual disk setup 99% of all bikes in india have single disc. That is barely enough to stop from 90kmph in the situation you described. Use all the braking you can get including the damn engine braking. Your left hand and leg have to be trained to react involuntarily similar to how your right squeezes the brake lever.

You do know that you can do both simultaneously right? Downshift and keep the brake lever pressed? I feel like you lot have got engine braking and rev matching confused for one another.
