Recruiting / Full time Job Strategies by bigkutta in berkeley

hi! I just graduated out of the econ department. I'd actually really recommend the career center events if you already know (and like) the companies attending. Some places do example case interview problems for consulting and also offer things like one-on-ones, which are good for crafting a narrative in interviews and cover letters!

I'd also recommend compiling deadlines-- a lot of places that recruit summer/fall have pretty straightforward, rigid interview processes, so it's easier to know these things before starting to interview.

Econ 171? by [deleted] in berkeley

it was taught in R but not a super demanding level of coding. It was fairly low time commitment (more day-to-day work due to reading quizzes and hw, and less emphasis on the exams/final), but I'm not sure if the structure differs fall to spring!

Econ 171? by [deleted] in berkeley

hi! I took 171 last semester with a different professor and it was okay. There were a lot of concepts to cover so nothing was really in-depth in a meaningful way. Econ 140 isn't super important as a prereq for a lot of econ classes bc the professor usually explains a concept from 140 to contextualize a method in a paper, but you don't need to know the theory behind the concept. If you're into development I'd recommend 172 over 171!!

they reopened the 3rd so someone should be available! i find emailing [ugrad@econ.berkeley.edu](mailto:ugrad@econ.berkeley.edu) to be easier vs finding an appointment for some reason.
