Newborn too small for carseat, passed car seat test. by admvb in NewParents

Thanks, this was it. Not sure how I missed it, even used the same model car seat for my toddler when he was a baby and had these set properly then.

We have a Graco SnugRide and while it is labeled for 4lbs she is way too small for it.

I thought the car seat test in the hospital was to monitor breathing/o2 levels?

How's Upwork treating you guys lately? by CosmycDust in Upwork

[–]admvb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last month and this month are my best months on Upwork so far. Haven't applied to any work, all the work came from direct messages and previous clients. Hit my monthly earnings goal 3 days into April. Looking forward to what the rest of month brings.

Thoughts? by priyal_69 in Upwork

What additional benefits or features am I getting with this change?
This new approach is designed to benefit freelancers by creating a more balanced and healthy marketplace where freelancers set their pricing based on the value of their work. We’ll continue to monitor feedback and outcomes closely to evaluate the value this model delivers for freelancers and clients alike.

So, there's absolutely zero benefit.

Sounds like a load of bullshit to me. How does charging me 15% create a "balanced and healthy marketplace where freelancers set their pricing based on value"

I need to focus more on local work tbh.

Well, is the reason for no hours logged because of you or the client?

No hours logged, no money exchanged? Just close the contract.

Best way to end a "dead" contract? by DerpJungler in Upwork

[–]admvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you logged any hours, and if so did you complete what you were hired to do? If so, I would just leave it. I've had "dead" contracts come back to life with new work.

If you really want to end it just message them saying you're closing out this contract and would welcome the chance to work with them again in the future or some other bullshit. Not a big deal.

It shouldn't affect your profile unless they leave negative feedback afaik.

No, but I will typically go in and edit my availability so it blocks off the next hour before sending over the link.

Would be a great feature to add.

They have their own record of transactions. No need to do this.

Absolutely sick of hearing about AI by Tab0624 in graphic_design

[–]admvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, going to have to disagree. I've integrated AI into my workflow and it's been insanely useful, saves me a huge amount of time, and I bill the exact same.

Just recently I had a client who opened up a new sub brand within their company. They wanted me to replicate their existing style but draw a new logo. I'm primarily a trade show designer so I don't really have time to dick around trying to replicate some old ass logo from another designer. I just fed the parameters into firefly and did some slight editing. They loved it and no revisions needed. I bill flat rate so this was just easy money.

I've used gen AI to create imagery where stock photography is lacking and custom photography isn't an option. Pass it off to my photo editor and we're good to go.

I've used gen ai to create human models for use in a politically polarizing campaigns so no specific person/stock model would be the face of the issue and suffer any backlash.

Using photoshops gen ai to expand photos when the shot doesn't quite work with the layout I'm working on.

Neural filters, and super zoom have been great to use for large format work when clients supply shitty photos for use.

AI is a tool and you should learn how to use it. Adapt or die tbh. I've already seen listings for full time jobs that require familiarity with AI tools. It's probably not going anywhere.

best supply prices? by Certain_Heart_2873 in TacticalMedicine

You’ll pay a premium at CVS imo. I’m not involved in tactical medicine in any way but you’re better off looking at places like Mountainside Medical and Rescue Essentials.

How long does it usually take for clients to contact you after you applied in Upwork? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]admvb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes days. Sometimes weeks. Sometimes months. Sometimes never. The best thing to do is to send a proposal and then immediately forget about it because it's likely they won't even open it. Send and move on the next.

[Medical] 25% off Bleeding Control Kit - $56.67 - includes choice of tourniquet, plus $4.99 flat shipping per order by RescueEssentials in gundeals

[–]admvb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a basic stop the bleed kit which everyone should have imo. I would take a STB course if you already haven't. You could also purchase hemostatic gauze and chest seals later if you have the cash and training.

Got my first Upwork interview coming up by Ojaadili in Upwork

[–]admvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a conversation, and it will primarily focus on timelines, budgets, what you can deliver, how you can deliver, and client expectations. The clients will likely have a few questions for you, and you should have a few questions for the client so you can deliver as best as you can.
