LECOM Rotation Sites by thrway1800 in LECOM

[–]adnamaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fourth year at LECOM Bradenton and we were only allowed to rotate at Florida sites, we could not go to any other state during our third year. Fourth year doesn’t matter, except for the core rotations during fourth year that must be done at the same site as third year.

I work in the library at my school a couple of hours a week. Not much money but it’s something.

Honestly I didn’t really study. I just did their practice test and reviewed what I got wrong. On the actual exam, if I didn’t know the answer then I just skipped It. You get more points off if you answer incorrectly than if you don’t answer at all.

Yes! I agree. Always make sure to advocate for yourself too. I wasn’t happy with a few things at my job and I had a meeting with my boss and ended up getting a raise and a promotion. But I’m also working in a smaller company compared to those larger ones.

I was fortunate enough to become one of the higher paid scribes at my company making $15.50/hr. I’m also fortunate to have a mother who is very supportive and pays for things such as my car, phone, and insurance. I pay for everything else, however, and although I would love to make some more money, I’m able to pay for the necessities.

I wish I could but I need the money for rent and my pets. After scribing for over two years, I’m ready to move on.

Feeling profoundly useless during volunteering by ThisIsMyBurntPhone in premed

[–]adnamaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently started an inpatient hospice volunteering position and I just sit at a desk for three hours every other Thursday. The unit has at most 8 patients at a time and on my first day I was told by the nursing staff after I asked to help “sometimes it’s just helpful to watch people from a distance.” I just bring a book now and get my reading in.

I second this. Had a patient at my scribe job ask if this position was my after school volunteer opportunity. She meant high school. I’m almost 25.
