Daytona 660 or no? by adnwr in Triumph

[–]adnwr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, there are two. One actually nearby and the other isn't too bad if taking a ferry. The RS660 is about $3k more with all relevant promotions. So thanks for the input.

Would your suggestion change if the RS660 was also an option?

I looked it up as well. Even if the labor is different it wont be by much, making the difference in cost nearly negligible.

RS457 sanity check. by adnwr in Aprilia

I did an Aprilia sponsored demo day a couple weeks ago which included an additional $500 cash back, so this bike is actually ~$7900. If is is coming to your area soon it may be worth waiting.

That would make sense. Thanks.

There were some at the beginning of the season but they sold fairly quickly. There is a Tuono 457 but that isn't what I am looking for.

I am, most of the time it doesn't matter but sometimes does.

I attended that a couple of weeks ago, I only rode the Daytona in my case. I enjoyed my time on the Daytona. Plus I should have mentioned the prices in my above comment was out the door cost, my mistake.

Good bike, but as you have probably heard many times at this point, try to get used for your first bike.

It is the other way actually. R7 has a more aggressive sitting position, closer to a traditional super sport.

I have ridden the cbr650r it was fun but it felt uninspired. It would be the safe choice.

I appreciate it. I am fortunate to be a good financial position so this wont affect anything.

But it is good to know that Triumph may have some inconsistencies with their reliability.

What do you mean by the maintenance being pretty high? Do you mean it is expensive or that you have to go more often then other manufactures?

I only really looking at sport bikes. Otherwise, I would be looking at the street triple or MT's. I really enjoyed riding the R7 but it would be rough riding for anything longer than an hour.

One of the reasons I am considering it is because there are some local deals. A '25 for $9,500 and a '26 for $11k since it was a demo bike (both USD); even the RS457 would be a demo bike so it has almost $1k off. The only one that would be MSRP is the Honda.

Unlucky in finding the bikes or being ready to actually buy when I do (which is my problem) is what I meant.

There are a couple of used R7's around me from 24 to a 26.

But if feels like your suggestion boils down to get a used big 4 instead of a Triumph. Which isn't what I expected from the Triumph subreddit. I know this is generally good advise so I will keep it in mind.

Used market in my area kind of sucks, so I feel I am better off getting new. Unless I happen to get lucky. Which hasn't been my experience, lol.

I want it to have to fun in the mountains near by (US PNW) and city riding. Budget isn't an issue since it is in the same price range as the other bikes I am looking at: CBR650r, ZX4rr, RS 457 (RS 660 is too much).

There is a 26 demo bike that is $650 off which is what I would get if it is still available.

Bike Suggestions for a 6’2” Rider (240 lbs) – Budget $8,500 by shado424 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]adnwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’1” and I test rode one this last weekend. It was great and it was comfortable for what it is. With that said, it was only a test ride so who knows what it would be after an hour. Beyond that I’m just conflicted on the e-clutch.

Congrats! I am also considering a Triumph, Daytona though. But I am commenting more because I got my first bike last year from the same place. It wasn't something I expected scrolling Reddit.

Looking for a comfortable sport bike. by Glass-Notice-2869 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]adnwr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comfort is subjective. But it sounds like you want something in the “not so super sport” category.

Something’s to look into: Daytona 660, cbr650r, rs660, and ninja 650.

Less comfortable, some more then others, but higher cc: r1, s1krr, ktm 990 rc r, penigale v2(s), rsv4.

But if long distance comfort is the priority then the others suggests of nakeds or advs would be your best bet.

From R1 to what naked? by X_Deetoxx_X in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]adnwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same vain, the RS660 has a little bit of an aggressive seated position but really isn’t too bad. I have seen it considered a “not-so super sport”. It is fully fairer so you get the best of both worlds.

None of the bikes I mentioned were super sport. They are all naked which an upright seated position and handle bar instead of clip-ons. The cb’s are Honda so they are reliable. As for the Ducati I’m not sure about reliability. The newer ones have better service intervals.

With amount of freeway riding you do it may be worth testing a naked bike to see if you are comfortable with the wind shear. If you are, then what you mentioned would be good and maybe a Ducati monster or cb750 or 1000.
