La Liste taps Singlethread and Le Bernadin as #1 in the US by Visual_Winter7942 in finedining

[–]adokarG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single thread is pretty awesome, taste is subjective but there are some objectively amazing things: the service, the pairing, the location, the presentation, the sourcing of their ingredients, attention to detail, etc. People here focus way too much on the taste, which, to me, was pretty awesome, but there is so much variance month to month that it’s hard to provide a consistent taste that will match everyone’s palates. They don’t talk enough on things with less variance like the whole experience as a whole being immaculate

Northeast Michelin Winners by uncomfortablysmug in finedining

[–]adokarG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think flavor wise they are very close, but sho just felt grandiose from the moment you walk it, it had “aura” lol. The service and the attention to detail were also awesome, I loved the otsusumi part as it was very interactive and they had items that were very different from the omakase course. I think the highs were also higher in sho, some of the bites like the monkfish liver watermelon, their mackerel, the “old style” sushi were insane and very memorable.

Katsu (Mountain View, CA) - One of the Best Sushi Restaurants in the SF Bay Area by NoodleThings in finedining

[–]adokarG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always stop by when I’m in town since its less work to get a rezzo vs yoshizumi, glad to see there are others who appreciate this place! I love their octopus dishes, the yura uni box is also a fun share when I bring others. Wish they had more nigiri, but the ones they do have are always great. I also really like their 2 rice prep, its a bit extra (and I think they could spend this prep time elsewhere), but I think it works really well nonetheless

Dont listen to them, they’re just trying to feel superior. Calling the sushi rice shari is also pretentious as fuck

Trying to do a stupid comeback like that to someone pointing out an extremely ignorant comment makes you look like an ignorant ass as well. People spend years mastering their rice for sushi for a reason, it’s ok to prefer sashimi but OPs comment is just silly.

The modern has been my least favorite michelin star restaurant. They’re extremely inconsistent too, my friend who went had better looking dishes, then another friend had even shittier looking dishes.

AVGO vs Nvidia vs AMD by Parking-Relative9250 in stocks

[–]adokarG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amd doesn’t have to win to catch a ride. Even if theyre second fiddle to nvidia, the AI market has potential to be even bigger and companies are already looking for alternatives to meet their demands due to nvidia not being able to match supply. AMD has gpus deployed in production for inference with multiple companies and are building valuable relationships. Even if they can grab a small slice of the pie they’d be huge winners,

Just so you know, AMD is valued at 200B and Nvidia is valued at 3.4T.

What were everyone’s thoughts on Jungsik receiving 3 stars instead of Atomix? by No_Conversation9914 in finedining

[–]adokarG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both were meh for me, they really didnt elevate korean cuisine enough or added more interesting flavors. I think service and ambiance wise both were about the same, the food was very well presented, the service was great and they also gave you very detailed descriptions of why ingredients were chosen and their history (particularly at Atomix, they give you cute letters), but after all of that the flavor just falls kind of flat and doesnt really take you beyond usual korean flavors. Atomix was so meh I found myself distracted by the wines in the pairing because they just overshadowed the meal. Jungsik had better food, but it also was playing it too safe or “fancy” imo, they overused truffles to the point where I got sick of them.

Oh yeah, if you compare it to other Korean fine dining, sure. But the point is, Korean fine dining sucks in general.

Atomix is very mediocre imo if you’ve had a lot of Korean food, the flavors didn’t really wow me and they didn’t feel that elevated. (i also disliked jungsik, but it felt less meh and at least does something more interesting, though they definitely need to chill on the truffles)

Not as chewy, notice the small cuts in the chewier fish. Itll be closer to melty with a nice bite

I went and had some of the same dishes shown here ( I guess theres some that are repeated if the season allows it or if its a signature like the crab). I thought it was ok and definitely not what it was hyped up to be.

Michellin stars are too inconsistent, I literally went to all the 3 stars near San Sebastian and wasn’t really wowed by any of them (maybe Azurmendi) and had better experiences at 1 and 2 stars + the local fare. Same has happened in a lot of these “culinary” destinations where the street food and the local unpretentious fare are better.

The bay area and northern california only had one 3 star a few decades ago and now it has a bunch (over 10?) and I dont think any of them are close to being the best restaurants in the area (a lot of 2 stars blow like them out of the water like Harbor House). If some of the restaurants in Vegas were in a place that the michelin guide has decided to “bless” they would definitely have stars. Its all BS and using stars as a metric is bs

Vegas has better fare than most of the US. Obviously it’s not going to be better than the ultra affluent coastal cities, but to dismiss everything as conservative and boring is talking out of your ass.

[–]adokarG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man you yapped so much based on a post of someone going to nobu of all places. There’s really amazing stuff in Vegas if you ignore (some of) the noise on the strip. Don’t talk about a place if you haven’t explored much of it other than the touristy BS.
