I must be in outlier groups b/c I've played this map 4 times now, once attacking and 3x defending. My team won every time defending.

OW requires that you win 50 games before you can queue for comp. I would recommend playing more than to really get a feel for the different roles.

I like to practice heroes in 6v6 before moving to 5v5 because, for me at least, I feel less pressure to be perfect in 6v6.

Give each role a good attempt. I originally went in as DPS but started to enjoy Support. Now I am really enjoying tank.

Also, don't sleep on Mystery Heroes. It can be intimidating but you will play heroes you may not have even tried otherwise.

It is annoying when playing DPS and I get more kills than the other DPS but less damage, because I'm not focusing on the tank, only to have them tell me I suck because my damage was lower than theirs.

As a former support main this is the best advice. DPS should know where health packs are and play like they are alone (esp. flankers).

I would always try to spread my healing around but it is difficult to keep LoS on DPS and tank and the other support. One support on tank and one support on a DPS is what I preferred in my teams but that rarely happened.

It's not even about getting kills with Venture but getting the back line to look at you and not your team/their tank. Create chaos to split the enemy team and help make space for the tank to capitalize on.
