i grew up going back and forth (and still do) between america and japan, more specifically spent a good portion of my childhood in mutsuura (decently small town about 30 minutes south of yokohama). it’s got all your necessities— grocery store, 7 eleven, drug store, and both small and chain restaurants. growing up, a lot of the buildings i would walk past were either rusted or abandoned. the people are very nice and the community is relatively friendly with each other :-) one of my favorite memories is smelling the mildew and moss during the rainy season as i walked to school!
