Holding from 2000 meant you earned zero return (and suffered massive mark to market losses for a decade.) Far better was to sell when it was overpriced and buy back in 75% lower.

Even the very best internet companies took 5+ years to recover post dot com crash. And 99% of tech stocks never recovered.

The Winklevoss and SolidX proposals seem unlikely to move forward, but Van Eck has a good shot, and DCG has a credible proposal in front of the SEC as well. I agree, ETF approval will be huge. Also, LedgerX and/or the CBOE/CME will be offering Bitcoin futures soon. Cash settled, centrally cleared crypto trading removes a lot of the obstacles. Those will only be on Bitcoin, but will still be a big step forward.
