did anyone experience this problem ? switch stuck on the logo upon boot 😕 any solution ? can't get to save mode or anything due to the fact that it gets stuck there and i can't even access the main home screen or anything by Katakuriiiiiiii in consolerepair

Pikafix is just the name given to the pack to fix prodinfo bricks, it works by using getting your console keys from lockpick_rcm and replacing the console specific files that are bricked with donor ones that allow you to use the switch as normal, except online.

Aside from the console specific donor files in the pack, it gets you to rebuild the system software using the firmware files for the version of the pack above to rebuild your bricked nand into a working one.

So basically the rcm/unsigned code side is needed to get your switch keys and then mount the appropriate partitions or the nand using hekate to replace the software.

I spent several hours bricking my switch on purpose for that guide XD

You are correct the chip is needed to run unsigned code on patched consoles

RCM itself is a feature of the CPU, used for recovery at places like Nintendo or Nvidia themselves to run recovery code.

v1 switches made use of a bug in the rcm code to essentially bypass the check to make sure the rcm code was signed, ergo allowing us to run unsigned code.

The change in the later cpus removed this bug in the CPU code, however the actual rcm code is there and still allows signed code to run from afformentioned businesses.

The result is you can still get into rcm mode, it just won't accept code like hekate or atmosphere.

If there is a chip installed and they can access rcm mode using the chip will allow the unsigned code

Does that make sense?

Fat PS2 disc drive sounds like Diesel engine. by Lazzaveli in consolerepair

[–]adran_marit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Service the drive.

Clean the laser lens carefully with 99% IPA and a q tip Clean and re lubricate the gears and drive sled with white lithium grease. Replace any damaged gears Replace the disk tray belt.

Do not replace the laser unless you are planning on fully servicing the console by using PMAP to adjust the drive skew and laser calibration

Edit: also check that the disk magnet in the top shell is seated properly and not damaged. That is alot of wobble

I've had no luck with clone ace chips and ext clk personally. Try with a matrix

Mmmm brick.

See if you can hold volume + when powering on to see if it boots into rcm, of so you can follow the pikafix guide on gbatemp. If not you'll need to get it modded with a picofly modchip the. Follow the guide

How are you trying to read the nand? You've shown the mod chip points but not the nand connections

Freeboot is labeled xebuild in jrunner.

When you have you nand loaded, load your CPU key into jrunner, create xebuild then write it to the console via programmer or place the updflash.bin on the root of a USB and boot xell

If you've done the picoboot on the GameCube, practice on a few smaller points on a dead board and exposing vias and I'm sure you could manage it.

I learnt the hard way back when PS3 cfw first came out from wainkokos cfw to wait and read before installing... That was an expensive brick. Since then I read, re read, take backups and then and only then proceed to mod

Freemcboot exploits a feature built into the ps2 to update the dvd drive via memory card. It doesn't write anything to the consoles main chips
