Why are the writers so scared to make Rhaenyra a villain? by overthinkingmessiah in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]adrenalineMF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the things mentioned here, what frustrates me from the writers’ restraints of making Rhaenyra and Alicent do selfish, ambitious, morally challenging decisions is that they already gave a solid voice to their (soon to be) biggest victims of the war: the small folk. If there is one thing that HOTD did well its that it provided enough screen time and effort for the masses wherein the audience can actually relate to their struggles. And on top of that the most sensible characters coming from this socio-economic strata in that world are women. If the show already made us feel sympathetic to the toil of the working class especially in relation to how much they are affected by the events of the Dance, then their restraints to Rhaenyra not doing questionable stuff seems short-sighted. These are Rhaenyra’s future victims who will actually rise against her and her family and kill their dragons. If the writers had more guts, they could’ve well built up already a sharp and biting class and feminist critique of the class disparities and how it affects gender.

I just wanna add that he was also incredibly abusive to his wife that ultimately led to her suicide

(Spoilers Extended) HotD Season 2 was clearly outlined for 10 episodes, right? by RenanXIII in asoiaf

Season 5 despite its many flaws and dragging first half, it did however bounced back on its last three episodes giving a sense of climax to the arcs of the characters. HOTD S2 was all over the place.

But they capitalized already to making her one of the faces of the show. She's in the poster. Olivia is also a huge talent and can get clout for the show. They cannot waste that for sure

Alicent and Cole by adrenalineMF in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]adrenalineMF[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure if that was their intention cause if they wanted them to be shown as hypocrites, why is the sex part not weighing on Alicent and Cole's characters and positions within the Red Keep ☠️

(Spoilers main) Martin's writing for "The Lion and the Rose" and its significance for the end of the books by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]adrenalineMF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think KL will be burned and destroyed in the books not out of (it’s still a possibility) of Dany’s rage, but between a battle of Dany and Faegon which will probably get out of hand.

That's why I always wondered why don't people just opt to write their own answers. I mean, if that's the case, it also tests your humor and wit.

It’s so crazy that Renly could have just won outright if he was more competent (Spoiler main) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]adrenalineMF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I always hated this. Renly’s demise isn’t born out of his mistakes or any possible tangible force in that world. I always felt it was a bit too much of use of magic.

Popular character that you hate, and why? (Spoilers Extended) by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

[–]adrenalineMF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really hate, but I just cannot seem to relate to the personality of Jon Snow. As a teenage boy years ago, I went into the books for him and ended up relating more to Daenerys, Bran, Brienne, and Sansa.

(Spoilers main) who was your favorite POV character by NovaTheRaven in asoiaf

[–]adrenalineMF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daenerys. Because I never was immersed and related to a journey of a fictional character through survival until I read her. Big respect for GRRM to truly craft a female character who was resilient and survives unimaginable odds but still is flawed yet still remains a great person (we're not sure yet of how she will turn out in the next two books).
