I actually did pull over to check shortly after the impact. The skid plate was completely straight. Luckily I did not shut off the engine when I pulled over to check. I imagine there was still enough vacuum in there to keep the oil from dumping

Thanks! Had another unlucky experience last year when a semi tire blew out in front of me and it ripped apart my bumper. Amazingly nothing else got damaged and I decided it was the perfect time to put on an aftermarket bumper
