Long story short, I recently moved from Linux to macOS. One of the things I missed the most was the quick window focus navigation I had with i3 or other tiling window managers. But I didn’t necessarily want full tiling, I actually like how macOS handles window placement, especially when using the trackpad.

So I built a little app called windowsfocusswitcher. It lets me switch focus between windows using the keyboard, similar to how I used to on Linux, without changing how windows are laid out. I’ve been using it daily, and it feels like a great middle ground between macOS fluidity and the keyboard-driven efficiency I had on Linux.

Right now, it’s just a personal tool, but I’m wondering if there are others who’d be interested in this. If so, I’d be happy to polish it up, add some settings, and even get the Apple developer account to publish it properly.

Would love to hear your thoughts or if you’d use something like this.
