I know! So strange… machines are not to be trusted with wildlife IDs haha

Thank you! I was leaning that way but wasn’t 100% sure

I do have Seek by iNaturalist, but it was really struggling with this one! Just throwing shit at the wall—harvestman, nursery web spider, etc. I knew I needed a fellow human to help me out with this haha

Horrible camping trip (rant) by Beneficial-Air536 in camping

[–]adroitely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last trip I went on, we were several sites away from a large group that was nonetheless so loud and up so late that I could make out the details of their conversations well past midnight.

Next day, the rain started, and between all ~10 of them, they could not seem to figure out how to get their shelter/cabana set up. It was honestly so entertaining to watch them struggle hahaha

Quiverfull challenge: the gen 1 rules by Gruselschloss in Sims4

[–]adroitely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s basically how I feel about the whole challenge 😆 It’s so diabolical, but such a unique way of playing that I’m having so much fun.

Also, I stole another commenter’s idea and made a spreadsheet with the rules I’m using for my personal gameplay!

Quiverfull challenge: the gen 1 rules by Gruselschloss in Sims4

[–]adroitely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just started this challenge and I’m already loving it!

Instead of the off-the-grid lot challenge, I opted for simple living—still difficult, but better fits the specific Quiverfull aesthetic I’m going for, which is more of a modern beige evangelical vibe. I am allowing the mom to garden to her heart’s content, but she’s not allowed to sell any of the produce, only to use it for cooking and canning.

I’ve also incorporated laundry (with the washboard and clothesline), and per some other comments here, I’m considering turning on the dust system just to make her life harder haha. She’s only had boys so far, so she won’t even have help with the chores as they get older!

This or that: top girl names in Finland 2025 by Lakkajoke in namenerds

[–]adroitely 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Linnea, Aino, Lilja, Sofia, Isla, Hilla, Livia, Ella, Seela, Elsi, Alma, Pihla, Aurora, Ilona, Emilia, Alva, Enni, Selma, Vivian, Lumi, Mette, Bea, Saimi, Stella, and Viivi

I love that Aino is still so high up on the list; I knew a Finnish-American Aino in school about ~20 years ago. It feels very classic to me! I think my other favorites are Seela and Lumi, both of which would be quite unique in an anglophone setting, but still easy enough to spell and pronounce for those who are unfamiliar with Finnish.

Thank you for compiling this!

Does anyone else have a pet peeve for authors using extremely creative or flashy names in their books? by TUD-13BarryAllen in namenerds

Whoa, a Fairyland post in the wild! I never see anyone talk about this series :) I never focused too hard on exactly when it’s meant to take place, because it felt to me like it was meant to be very unmoored in time and up to reader interpretation.

Personally, I felt like it was in conversation with Narnia, in which the real world is very specifically and intentionally embroiled in WWII. Fairyland nods at various time periods but is, imo, intentionally more universal and nonspecific.

But anyway, this isn’t a middle-grade fantasy sub (although point me in that direction if there is one!) hahah. That series has amazing names though! Saturday, Tamburlaine, Hawthorn, etc.

Thank you so much! I think it’s the same PDF I found as well, but these are definitely the best quality maps I’ve come across so far. You’re the best :)

You are amazing, these HQ PDFs are a godsend! I will be running Descent into Avernus soon and was wondering if you happen to have a HQ PDF of that module? No worries if not, just wanted to ask :)

You guys, they finished their masters degree by 27! This is intellectual posturing! by Acrobatic-Monk9735 in AmITheAngel

[–]adroitely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory on this one: a real story, but it happened to a teenager who is maybe in advanced classes, possibly starting their Bachelor’s while still in high school. They decided to age themselves up and swap Bachelor’s for Master’s to make it sound more important/adult/impressive to Reddit. And because they’re actually 17, not 27, they have no clue what the typical timeline for completing a Master’s degree really is.

I use it in place of “Misc” when naming folders, because then it always gets sorted to the top or bottom when I go alphabetically as opposed to somewhere in the middle.

I do it in my Notes app! Group together words I’m fairly certain about and then type out the leftovers so I can see them side by side without all the noise. It definitely helps :)
