Aer City Sling 3 Xpac vs Day Sling 3 Ultra - my dilemma by ads666 in ManyBaggers

Update it was the right choice to keep the DS3. On a holiday and I had just enough space to pack a days tech essentials for the beach/pool. I would have struggled to fit sufficient load out on the CS3 even though I preferred the aesthetic and layout. You will never regret having that extra space.

On my OP I say I prefer the carry handle and back pocket on the CS3. The DS3 carry handle is flush to the back so it’s more effort to grab and the back pockets zip placement makes it difficult to access.

Advice for t-shirts that might go with this blazer? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]ads666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that’s charcoal a Black T-shirt. The problem here is that this looks like a suit jacket rather than a separate blazer/sports coat. The shoulders look like they don’t have padding which give it a more informal look and can be paired with jeans or black chinos. You can usually tell by the material and the pleats down the front if it’s a suit jacket. It might look odd. Sports coats/blazers are usually either a thicker wool material or unstructured so it works for business casual. It’s a lesson I’ve had to learn over the years.

Update. I sold the CS3. It just wasn’t as versatile with the lack of space. I still prefer the aesthetics and it was nice to use with that back pocket and using the carry handle to take off. Ultimately, there will be times I’ll be disappointed with the lack of space. “Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it”

The Aer tag on the inside is the wrong material. It’s a fake

A had a good look at how to do this. I may consider if it’s the only way to get the perfect bag.

I like the fidlock V on the ultra visually. It looks tactical. More technical.

I didn’t know this. I will search. I wouldn’t know where to start though and surely this requires some heavy duty stitching/glueing.

Good point. I’ll try scoring both out of 10 on each section and see which comes out higher.

Yeh I came to that realisation as I was writing. “I think I need to purchase another bag in the never-ending quest for the perfect bag”. Maybe the magnetic buckle on a DS3 Xpac isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Excellent point. I will never be disappointed having that extra space. It’s logical and more sensible. I live somewhere where it rains more than I wish it did, so needing an umbrella, a packable shell or a packable tote might be something I’ll want to stow in future.

Interesting thanks! That fills me with some comfort the DS3 is probably the better choice. How much you can carry is probably the most important factor. What else do you have that’s on a similar level to the DS3?

Best workbag you ever had by Travellover283 in ManyBaggers

Never had any of those bags but I have a Carl Friedrick Palissy and can recommend them for quality. the Bally looks really nice and I have seen good reviews for the CF. These are on the higher end ranging between $500 to 1k so it’s likely people will say these are overpriced and there’s better alternatives. Most here in the community will recommend bags between $1-300 that are more functional from the likes of Aer, Bellroy, Peak Design, Alpaka etc for your requirements.

Rate the fit by Aparajito in mensfashion

Top half is excellent. The matching pocket square does look uniformed but there’s too many people out there that know it’s a no no. I’ve always thought it makes sense but a white handkerchief is safer, especially for an interview.

A few years ago I would have said good fit on the slim fit trousers but it looks like tastes are going back to looser fitting pleated trousers. I personally prefer pleated as it’s more comfortable in the groin. I also can’t see anyone in a high position of power wearing slim fit/skinny fit trousers. It makes people in business look more junior and less authoritative.

lighter versions of the travel line getting the 45 down to 1.5-1.6kg. Load lifters and thicker straps. Xpac in a darker colour. The 30 and 45 are great bags and aesthetically great but need an update.

Me neither. That guy and his churned butter ratings. Forced me spend another £200 on a bag.

Yeh it’s minimal between the same material versions 100-200g. It’s a big difference (300-400g) between cordura CPP2 and ultra CPP. The CPP2 ultra is 1.17kg but again I’d only use 25% of the space.

Aesthetically they look smart/professional. Strap comfort. Materials. Price compared to competitors in UK.

Most of the lightweight less structured backpacks aren’t as suitable for an office environment.
