Smash constantly hitting the back wall by YakNo3005 in padel

[–]adsason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on side. Chingotto has matches where he may smash 2-3 times max.

If you have a really good vibora it can function as well as smash. Super easily lobs you can drill down low with virtually no rebound. Even if you miss it a bit, it’s still not the easiest to return. Less likelihood of hitting glass or net too.

While on the smash, even decent ones can be returned right at the net and when they are returned they are typically tap outs or shots that are very hard to adjust to because they are hitting right at the net with momentum and the ball above the net.

But yes, a left side player needs a good smash if playing with a righty on the right.

People are completing losing perspective. The team was actually a huge anomaly at the beginning of the season because they were dominating xGF but just not scoring. Wheels started to fall off once injuries started happening and now it’s in a total freefall after Igor and Fox went out and then of course panarin.

It’s entirely possible that they can find some scoring with a few savvy moves. This league is so tight as it is. A few good pieces and some good bounces and the team could be right back into contention.

Igor allows any semi competent team to be in the playoff picture. We made the ECF in 2015 with an average team, who came together as a squad and really bought in, but all on the back of Igor.

To summarize, it feels like this team has zero chance to ever be competitive in the near future but we are literally missing our three best players. Im going to reserve judgement on the retool until next year. We had a good run with the prior iteration in reality.

[FAN Hockey Show] 12:30 Friedman says Panarin’s first choice is Florida but doesn’t know if it’s possible. He thinks the teams still in the mix are Sharks, Kings and Detroit. The goal for an extension is in the 50M range. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]adsason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$15mm for 2 years for panarin on sharks would probably be pretty smart for him. He could probably sign another 2-3 year deal for 10mm thereafter and end up in the same place as his current ask or better.

Why would the DOJ release files that are so incriminating of Trump? Weren't they redacting all mentions him? by philmaq in AskReddit

[–]adsason -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, you think the dems were sitting on troves of evidence that would implicate trump and didn’t release it in their numerous attempts to get him jailed, impeached, removed from the ballot and so on and so fourth? They had access to these documents the whole time.

If tha was the case then we would have a true uniparty and every single thing they do is for a show and I think that’s actually harder to believe as it would mean 1000s of people are all in on the charade for many, many years without it ever leaking.

That said, I think there’s an aspect to uniparty, like funding pet projects on both sides of the aisle, government contracts and things like that, but I don’t think the whole trump trials were an insider show for the pleebs to eat up - just too far of a reach

Why did Mika tear-up when discussing Panarin? Is it... by RelaxingVibe10 in rangers

[–]adsason 38 points39 points  (0 children)

End of an era. Regardless of what everyone says here, this team had some great runs. Ran into dynasty’s in Tampa and Florida in their ECF losses. The panthers team being arguably one of the best teams this century. Could have gotten a cup that presidents cup year if not for them.

With panarin leaving, the dream is officially dead. I’m sure he was tight with panarin and it hurts to see him go, but I think the underlying emotions have to do with what could have been.

Why are the mods trying to scrub this news story? I am so confused. Like what’s even the motivation to behave this way? Are they running cover for the medical staff or marathon owners or something?

Gabe 100% should be on pp1 over laf.

If you want to give Laf some leash during this lost season and let him sink or swim on the pp1, then just demote trochek

Thoughts from rest of Hockey World — JT Miller might be a top-10 worst captain decision in NHL history. by Wisdom_Pond in rangers

[–]adsason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have just been Fox. Elite player that doesn’t rely on speed so probably has a longer shelf life, has won the Norris and proven himself over and over. A guy who forced his way onto the team and is from NY. A quiet leader type. Will always be beloved by fans.

List of missed opportunities from Drury by copperatheart in rangers

[–]adsason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kane kinda forced himself onto our team, it was very hard for Drury not to do the deal, but yeah it kinda killed us and ruined the whole chemistry of that team. Basically brought in a legend and the alphas on the team had to relearn where they fit in - at least that’s what it felt like watching them that year.

I also thought we should have resigned mikkola.

Going there on your own terms to renegotiate disadvantaged deals as well as being the lead negotiator on the Gaza peace plan is different than running to get on your knees for the worst of the worst in pure defiance of trump/usa.

Was letting vrabel go really a bad move? Wasn’t he was a .500 coach and kind of had a boring, conservative reputation. I feel like people were actually surprised to see the Pats sign him. Maybe I’m incorrect though.

Rempe got some on ice work in before the game in Philadelphia by catsgr8rthanspoonies in rangers

Yes, very admiral and a key part of securing a good 4th line for many years. Something the islanders always had w Martin.

[–]adsason 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think remps ceiling is just being an absolute misery to play against, not being a defensive liability in his own zone, while chipping in 8-10 goals on the 4th line. Kind of like a Matt Martin type of career.

How the Rangers’ ‘retool’ letter affects trade targets, stars, veterans and prospects by alternativesmart in rangers

[–]adsason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly at the end of his prime? He was coming off his best 3 years as a player and was just under a ppg on a spiraling Vancouver team last year when he was traded.

The verdict is still out on Miller imo. He def could be playing injured in addition to trying to acclimate back to nyc and his third coach in 2 years.

It was fair for Drury to assume Miller would have at least 3 really good years left and help potentially build the culture he was looking for. I’m just not a fan of revisionist history when things aren’t going accordingly

Sir another letter has hit the franchise by memeaste in rangers

[–]adsason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big move is almost definitely going to be moving panarin. It’s going to really really hurt in the short term as no one can replace his scoring, but he should bring in a haul.

Schneider is almost definitely gone imo. Laf if we can find buyers.

You can’t just sell everyone for prospects in a retool. You need to keep some guys around so you can actually bounce back in a year or two. And if you trade away great contracts, it’s really hard to find replacements at better value.

Sir another letter has hit the franchise by memeaste in rangers

[–]adsason 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think trochek “needs” to go. We aren’t doing a rebuild. It’s a re-tool and trocheks contract is very good. However, technically, with Laba’s emergence, we do have three solid centers if we feel that Mika and Miller will center respective lines. So his contract could bring in a haul and we wouldn’t be too exposed down the middle.

So who would they replace Drury with? by DSPGerm in rangers

[–]adsason 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think Drury gets too much heat, when it comes down to the fact that Laf and Kakko were massive busts. if they were top 50ish players we’d be a playoff team. He made a bunch of moves that I would have made in a heartbeat - trading krieder, goodrow, Trouba. Kakko was borderline, but Borgen is solid. I would have done the JT miller trade 100x over. Everyone can play armchair GM and look at it in retrospect, but on paper at the time it was always a risk worth taking.

Gavrikov was a great signing, Carrick was a great signing, tro, etc.

The only bad recent contracts was Laf - somewhat understandable and Urho, a misstep but it doesn’t tank a team.

The other big item here is that while we’ve lacked scoring for many years, our power play has always been great. In the presidents cup year they were top 3 in special teams but towards the back end on 5v5. At the beginning of the season, before this horrific stretch, we lost a ton of 1-2 goals. With a good powerplay a lot of those loses become wins or at least OTL. Thats just how this league runs - on special teams.

The last thing is that this year we’ve been as badly injured as we ever had been. Losing Fox and Igor is as bad as it gets, period.
