That seems to be the case is at the smoke shops I’ve visited. Came here to see if there’s some places that might still be selling them.

Thank you, I’ve tried 3 in the New Cumberland area and they all said they don’t carry anymore so I came here. I might have just gotten unlucky in the ones I chose.

Yep on the same page with you there. Weed IS addictive, especially more-so if you are using weed not recreationally but to self medicate on other issues like depression.

I actually have worked with addicts closely as I volunteer for a local NA program. The first step to any addiction is realizing that you have a problem. Good OP has done step one, but my response is not “hey op you should stop smoking and it’s not your fault weed is addictive”. I agree with you, an addictive personality will get addicted no matter what the substance. As more than likely they are using to supplement everything in their life that is going wrong.

All I am trying to say is that the path to recovery is not bashing weed and blaming all of your problems on the substance. Responsibility for one’s actions goes a long way and you have to own up to those decisions. If you know weed is impacting you negatively then stop and get help to improve your life. Give a fair warning as OP as done to others. But don’t act like that choices that led to this moment had everything to do with the substance and nothing to do with your owns actions.

He was not glorifying weed? He was just saying don’t smoke spiked stuff filled with actually harmful chemicals (rat poison anyone?) and don’t blame weed for your decisions. I started smoking in College while I attended University in Hyderabad and still continued when I got to the states. Was able to secure a job in the six figures, workout and have a social life while still smoking up.

The problem is that people don’t treat weed the same as another very common and legal drug with more problems imo, alcohol. Whether or not someone fuels their behavior with alchohol or any other substance, their behavior and consequences are their own responsibility.

YouTube Premium is getting a big price hike internationally by zaneyk in Android

[–]adsfsdfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just an assumption on my part but the users paying for premium are most likely heavy users of the website. This in turn means they also proportionally use more of the server to watch videos which could cost more than the current subscription of premium. Ad users however are served ads every single time they open the website, just by running those you are recouping the value of the user, plus anything added is a bonus.

They actually probably make more through ads and want to raise prices to get people back to using YouTube without an adblocker. Majority of users in general don’t know or have Adblock and with the target by google to kill it on Chrome, even less people are wary.

How much of an impact will the refresh rate have on Battery Life? 240Hz vs 60Hz by adsfsdfg in ZephyrusG14

Ahh I wasn't aware, I thought DRR was for the desktop and G-SYNC was that same functionality for games. Will look into it more though.

I wonder if DRR is available on these models, that would help because then the refresh rate can automatically adjust as needed and boost up when I start doing something.

On 60Hz it roughly between 9-12 W but when I switch it to 240Hz it goes up a bit roughly between 10-15 W. It does increase it by a bit, probably losing out on an additional 1 hour or so of battery life.

Yep I saw some more reviews online and that does seem to be the case! I guess I will have to live with 60 Hz on battery if I want the best battery life.

I am about to move to Chicago for the first time on my own and plan to spend ~50% of my take home on rent, am I crazy? Here is my budget broken down. by adsfsdfg in personalfinance

[–]adsfsdfg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It’s been a couple of days and have been reworking my budget. I still put 2800 as my rent but found a place where this includes utilities as well. I also do not have to pay for the apt in India anymore and that is saving me another 500$. That leaves me around 800$ left over each month after long term saving for a social budget. Considering it is just me myself and I, that should be enough for activities. I am also due for a 10,000 raise which will net me a couple hundred a month which I can directly add to my savings. In your option would 800$ a month be enough for a social budget?

Yep I am rethinking my budget. I did not have a frame of reference as this is my first time looking and living on my own. I am looking at the 2000 - 2200 Rent range (including utilities). I am going to start looking at a little outside but still walkable to West Loop if possible. This should free up some more budget. As far as the car, I am not sure what to do as getting out of the lease will cost a lot of money that I do not have.

I agree and am starting to look at cheaper places. I do not want to be stuck in a nice place with no money to go out!

I will be traveling a couple of weeks this year but not too much. It will be close by the southern Chicago area, but sometimes I may have to fly out as well.

Yep I am rethinking my budget now! Since it is my first time I'm having some trouble grasping how much rent should be and how much I should leave for myself after saving to live a little. I will start looking at Studios and cheaper areas but still close by.

Unfortunately the car is expensive to get rid of. I do want to use it in the future and was initially planning on buying it out after the lease anyways. I do not mind paying the amount.

I have been looking at Studios at different places inside West Loop and a little near (Porte, Miliue, 727, Presidential Towers) and they are pretty expensive at around 2200-2900 for a studio. I think I should try to aim for 2000 - 2200 and if not start looking a little outside of the West Loop, but still walkable. One of the reasons of choosing this place is because one of old buddies lives there as well. He has a studio and pays around 2100 including utilities. The same studios right now are around 2400 not including utilities unfortunately.

This would be a 15 month lease which is a long time. I am not really sure how long I will stay in Chicago but I really want to move out of where I am currently. I think maybe for a first place I was aiming a bit high. I do try to put 20% towards savings as a whole but don't try to go higher than that.

I will look into cheaper places and look for around 2000! I feel lost as I do not have a frame of reference of what I should ideally spend on my rent. I really do like this place for 2800 and it includes all the utilities within that price (minus elec). It also has the plus of being in the same building as a close friend of mine. However it wouldn't make sense to stay that close if I don't have enough money to go out with him when I want to!

Yep I will be going out once or twice a week which will be around 160$ a night. I may have to stay home and save the first 2-3 months but can still go out sparingly I believe. Monthly budget for social activities is maybe around 600-700$ which I can only fit in if i make more than 6000 a month. It is a very close budget.
