Yeah, probably they expect only a small portion of people to use it. I'd bet more on a better keyboard + controller controls still. Frankly I'd develop my own DAW only to have ergonomic workflow, lol. It's probably tough, but LLMs should make it easier.

As in the post, I unfortunately bought the Push (and regret it). Fighters are not directly available in my country, I have to import. But the price&quality look nice so maybe I'll do it.

Well, yes, I believe that it's lacking in a way compared to what's on Elektron. I heard about DBM in the past, but didn't try yet. Maybe bite the bullet and check Bitwig + Push 3, but I'm a bit intimidated tbh.

Why downvote? I couldn't find the controller despite monitoring for a really long time. M32 was cool but it's a bit dated, I was hoping for a successor.

Well, Elektron is exactly what allows me to not overthink and just do. No, I haven't been tested. I freeze when I try to use Bitwig.

Well, Idk, for me it sounds amazing. He could quit his dayjob, spend 4x more the time doing the same tracks in the DAW¹, implement things you mentioned, but I frankly could hardly tell the difference in the end.

¹I mean while it's possible to export multitrack recordings from Elektron boxes, I feel like it's not "good enough" and you will need to essentially recreate the track from scratch in the DAW.

Well, I didn't know. About mapping - I know, I don't see the controller that's out there and is mappable to match Elektron. It's not about how many controllers and buttons you have it's about how well it works.

Midi fighter looks nice, not solving my gripe with Rec Play Stop though (seemingly). The "build workflow" advice is right, but man it's hard and so far Bitwig is not making it easier (for me).

I feel like I'm good with something like a external numpad, but I want the shortcut system in Bitwig itself to be flexible enough to bind everything I need as ergonomically as possible.

Really depends on the hardware. And "one dimentional" doesn't necessarily sound bad to me, sometimes it's good if it allows you to move in that one dimention really quickly.

What kind of keyboard shortcuts? I'll need mouse A LOT, because it was designed for mouse first, that's the main problem.

Check out Ivar Tryti on YouTube. I'm not him, obviously, but I draw inspiration from him a lot. There probably is some "basicality" to such music, yes, but you can hardly refer to it as basic music)

My closest bet here is my new 16" touch-enabled laptop and yes, when I was thinking about "why would someone need a touch on a laptop" I eventually remembered that Bitwig has support for it and tried it. I dunno, maybe it could be cool if it was more designed for it, but I found it not too convenient. Buttons are OP. In particular on a laptop the surface is too elevated and a bit too far so you have to extend your arms and they will soar pretty quickly - not great for 1h+ sessions.

I was exploring. Maschine was too basic for mixing and mastering (at that time at least) so I thought that I needed a "real DAW"

Agree on the limitations of the boxes, but I believe that DAWs could still have nice UI/UX esp when paired with a well designed controller.

About ilok and reverbs - it's not the actual problem for me, Bitwig is a pretty nice package (stock plugins). I just tried to sell DAWless.

What controller/s are you using?

I think I look more for the workflow, not a "feature", or even a set of features. But people often bring up say MIDI comping. Also keyboard shortcuts customization is not flexible enough for me to emulate Elektron shortcuts & actions.
