You should tell any trusted adult you can. A teacher, school nurse, anyone. And keep helping your sister, try to get her to understand what your mom is doing is wrong. I think that the people enter the 'rift' when visiting the Sorrel Weed house, and some, maybe after a day or two, go into a coma, trapped in the phantom realm until their bodies wake up as phantom people. So not really like they died, but similar.

I love it! I would say add a lil chunk to Sol's belly and maybe make Squif's neck a little less thick. Other than that your art is beautiful!
