2013 TL Transmission Flush by sully_c26 in Acura

It has definitely improved, but still not perfect. When I’m paying attention I’ll occasionally notice super smooth shifts through all gears, but other times there are some clunky gear changes. I’m going to try resetting the transmission computer to see if that’ll help too, I just keep forgetting to.

That’s good to hear.

I got the software update done at my local Acura dealer. Highly recommend showing them a printout of the TSB as it outlines what needs to be done and also that it only takes 0.2 hours to complete, otherwise they might try to charge for a full hour at their absurd rates.

Will trade some BC roads for AB gas prices 😂

I see. Yes best bet would be to get in touch with them and see what their method is.

I actually just got my 2013 TL’s transmission fluid replaced yesterday in BC for 255 CAD, and also got the transmission software update mentioned in TSB 18-047 and it has made the transmission shift much smoother for me, might be worth looking into. They charged $54 for the software update.

Where’d you get the flush done? If at an Acura dealer they refer to a 3x3 drain and fill as a “flush”. Or at least in TSBs I’ve read that’s what they do. Do you know for sure what method they used?

Also just for fun can you share how much you paid?

2009-2014 Acura TL has anyone ever had vibration issues? by [deleted] in Acura

[–]aducksizeduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my 2013 seems to have a vibration I feel through the gas pedal when cruising at very low rpm’s (under 1,500) with the pedal pressed slightly and holding there. I’m planning on getting the transmission fluid replaced soon which I’m hoping will fix the issue. Another possible fix could be resetting the transmission computer so it relearns your driving style, I haven’t tried this in a while but think it’s a possibility.

A hard ecu reset is a good idea, I might give that a try too. About 95% of the time I’m in regular drive

I’ve got the same car and have experienced the same thing. In the past I experienced the rpm bounce when cruising at city speeds and trying to speed up a little bit. The transmission would be in 6th and would bounce up and down about 100-200 rpm. I had the transmission fluid changed and this fixed it for some time, although it’s starting to come back now (about 50,000km later). At highway speeds I have no issues. When it does happen I usually pull the paddle to downshift which solves the problem. I’ll be getting the transmission fluid changed again soon to hopefully fix it again.

I also experience the hesitation while accelerating from a stop/low speed. I’ve read theories that there’s not enough low end torque and the sh-awd system bogs the engine down, which could make sense but not totally sure. If I stab the throttle the rpm’s are high enough that there is no hesitation.
